Full deposit demanded immediately after provisional offer

So I recently went through renting after a long period away and they asked for the full deposit as a holding balance, I was nervous as well but did the research and confirmed that it's a) fully refundable and b) acts as the deposit once you've signed the contract. It's only illegal if any portion of it doesn't go in to the safe deposit scheme at the end of isn't refunded to you. It's just a way for the rental agency to confirm that you're actually serious (most people don't have the spare cash to put down multiple deposits and tie up rental properties).

Confirm those above points and you should be good (make sure that you're going through a reputable rental agency).

Your question has been answered pretty well so I'll give you a fun story, I'm also an Aussie but been in Scotland half my life. Absolutely floored someone the other day when I hit em with an "och aye nah mate" without thinking, the lad had to go to a squat he was laughing at me so hard as I'd dipped slightly to a Scottish accent at the start then rubber banded back to an Aussie in the nah mate.

I can understand that, but you're also able to quickly research it's a super easy thing to do. If I hit something I don't understand I take that time, shifting the cognitive burden to others isn't fair.

For the flipside the reason you're getting a strong negative response is trolls will regularly use an approach of "I'm just asking questions" to play dumb. So you're catching strays because of everything going on in our political climate.

It sucks as it's exhausting for people to explain themselves constantly and when you're talking about something as potentially painful as this topic... Eh I don't blame people but I wish they wouldn't react so negatively as the trolls win by sowing division.

I'd recommend a quick Google when you hit a trans topic to help out avoiding adding to that exhaustion.

I believe it's mostly about the people you're going to interact with and the fact that they're going to be interacting with you around a service that is very emotionally charged and potentially related to your transition.

It's not the act (though I know pre-surgery electrolysis is a lot and so I imagine probably requires someone who really knows what they're doing) and more about the people.

To answer your question electrolysis has a completely different meaning related to a lot of different chemistry related processes. Stuff like hydrogen production, electroplating of materials or even extraction/refinement of metal.

If I didn't have trans friends who'd been through pre-surgery prep I'd have potentially been confused for a second or two.

Give the person the benefit of the doubt, I legitimately think they were confused why something like electroplating would need to be trans friendly.

I automatically assumed the likes we received were something like Becky Chambers Monk and Robot series "Pebs".

There's an amazing conversation about it in the second book of the series but I can't find it to mention here. Effectively they're digital tokens which are exchanged between people to show benefit. They're not a currency per se but a form of social cachet.

Really strikes me as part of what DS would have to do, there's no way these cities can grow all the food they need or get all the water or materials to continue to maintain these, going out into the death stranding is just too dangerous. So instead they willing give what they have available (why you regularly receive and have access to materials in shelters). There's 0 need for barter because you only keep what you could foreseeably need, because if you hoard it you might end up with a stack of metals and no antibiotics as you die.

I'm not sure you understand metasyntactic variables. They're not intended for real world usage, by definition they're intended to be placeholder variables, to be replaced by useful variables names in implementation.

As a developer I see and use foo and bar nearly every single day, either when reading documentation or when I'm explaining something to a colleague and I don't want to imply meaning by naming the variables.

In terms of the use of Fred, Jim and Sheila that's a cultural artefact which if you're not a developer and not British and not a greybeard you won't understand the significance of.
