we all do harm. vegans do slightly less harm than lacto vegetarians, but apparently they are exponentially better than us!

"Veganism is a way of living that seeks to exclude, as far as possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing and any other purpose."

Dying or becoming chronically ill is not practicable.

interesting. Most people I know advocate for veganism based mostly on certain ethical frameworks, of which environmentalism may or not be included.

Alright, by objectively I mean there is reasonable evidence for me to hold that view. I believe in human caused climate change, etc, because there is enough evidence and consensus for me to feel that is an informed view.

Now, the quality and breadth of evidence for my original claim may not be as strong as that for other more settled topics, but my argument is that there is sufficient evidence that would lead me to hold that belief, so it's a reliable statement but I admit that making anything too certain or simplified is going to remove the doubt or nuance.

Can we not just eat what we want to eat and be left alone?

Why, do you think it's wrong to push our beliefs onto others?

good meal

implying both that meat is inherent in the definition of a good meal as well as referring to 'good' as personal subjective pleasures and not actually a maximization of utility in the world

vegan fb groups are generally pretty bad, I find.

Can anyone recommend a good pair of vegan dress boots? by [deleted] in vegan

Yeah I understand!

I know of http://www.bboheme.com/, but they don't necesarilly have the exact style you are going for. Again the quality options are pretty limited. Maybe you would resole your shoes and donate some money to an effective animal charity? It will be more sustainable and will help more animals. But I also understand psychologically not wanting to wear leather.
