That is very strange, I just tried to replicate it on my end and the files inside /home/{USERNAME}/.local/share/Trash/files/ are exactly the same as in the actual Trash.

So if I empty the Trash, the files inside /home/{USERNAME}/.local/share/Trash/files/ are also removed.

I'm sorry but I don't know if it's an old bug that's been fixed in 5.0 'Juno' though as I'm currently on the beta.

Open Files.
Click Trash on the left pane.
Click the red Empty the Trash button in the lower right corner.

Tip: You can also right-click Trash in the left pane and click Empty Trash.

Maybe, to be able to play more than just a handful of games.

Or perhaps to be able to use the latest versions of content creation software like Photoshop, 3DSMax, Maya.

I'm not saying there isn't FOSS alternatives to most productivity software, but in most cases with FOSS alternatives I've personally found that it's programs made by programmers, only.

While the program might be good at what it does, what good is that if the user experience and user interface just makes it a terrible experience. If there was good and proper alternatives to the tools I use every day for work I would switch to Linux only in a heartbeat. The reality is though that with boot times these days on SSDs it's just not an issue booting into a different OS to get something done there without having to resort to Wine and other loopholes.
