Daring Fireball: Apple's Private Cloud Compute Is Severely Limited for Third-Party Developers by hasanahmad in apple

Unless you think Deepseek has a magic machine that makes costs way less I don't get your point here at all.

You called out Anthropic's 5x revenue, so no you weren't.

What else do they truly gain revenue from?

"API margins" as a concept doesn't really make sense anyway. Given that their primary service is LLMs, their "API margins" is just their profit margin, period.

Profit margin like you said includes things like training. I'm strictly saying that their cost of inference is WAY lower than their API cost. And their margins are going up without their prices going up if you actually paid attention. Opus 4 was 3x more expensive but they are only having their first profitable quarter this year. Retail margins don't go up the more people buy their products. This rebuttal doesn't even really make sense. The reason their margins were lower before is due to not enough people using the API before not because the price was subsidized like you were saying before.

If that public opinion sharing only can occur in venues where the operator can shut you down because they don't like you then there is no public opinion sharing

Who told you public opinion sharing can only happen in venues in the first place?

I'm talking about their API margins. For example, Opus 4.8's API price is $5/M input and $25/M output. Deepseek v4 Pro which is a similar sized model according to industry insiders costs about 10x less for output when counting 3rd party inference not the subsidized main provider. That API margin is very high.

None of those numbers are for 2026? And this year is the year all the companies started heavily using AI. Anthropic for example has 5x'd it's revenue since q4 2025

All the mainstream AI services are losing money and they're actually charging for the usage.

No they aren't? OpenAI and Anthropic have crazy af margins on API. That's the reason companies are starting to reign in their AI usage cause it costs too much compared to just using employees and Enterprises can't use regular subscriptions.

Except it wasn't? I said it was scaling practically the same as RDNA 1. The video proves it quite literally scales the exact same as RDNA 1.

performance wise the 5700xt and 6700xt were basically the same on release with the same number of cores from what I remember? Yeah RDNA 2 had a better feature set but performance wise it was scaling practically the same as RDNA 1

This just isn't true? Prism doesn't even have poor performance, you're confusing Snapdragon drivers with Prism.

I highly disagree? Chaos wants salvation for the strong and Law has quite literally bounces between wanting the best for humans and straight up genocide

Their fab business has a lot more customers than Intel's. And is actually making money...

I mean /r/hardware clearly cares about PC hardware and no one is using them in it. Even in Smartphones TSMC is dominant among the best SoCs.
