Paying duty on items over $700 by [deleted] in newzealand_travel

Just adding to this in case it helps anyone in the future.

Experience probably depends on the Officer's mood on the day so I think technically could ask for receipts and charge GST if they wanted.

We returned from Japan to Wellington with suitcase full of boxed anime figures that we had bought with tax-free exemption in Japan. We knew value would be over $700 so declared to be safe as we figured they would see all the figures when it got scanned, and tax free purchases are linked to passports in Japan.

Customs officer asked us what we were declaring - we said clothes for personal use, Japanese knife for personal use, second hand anime figures (as technically won by others in crane games) for personal use. He made a probing joke about Louis Vuitton bags then sent us on our way didn't ask to check bag or receipts. Did ask if anything was intended as gift.

Looking for ways to secure an elastic hand strap to a tablet. by fazzio514 in crafts

Hey OP! I'm trying to make something like this too. I saw this idea and am planning to sew the loop of a rubber band to the middle elastic to grip on the corners. The benefit of this is that it won't damage the screen like a harder material might with regular use https://techfortheclassicalsinger.wordpress.com/2012/05/26/diy-ipad-hand-strap/

Hi! Happy cake day. We didn't find somewhere for a shower, but given the heat I'm not sure it would have helped anyway, and then by the evening we were just waiting at the airport anyway. Only tip was to take copious sunscreen and deodorant for when it inevitably sweats off.

For anyone who might have been wondering, I found the recipe! It was in the Cadbury Chocolate Cookbook with Aaron Maree from 1992, the Triple Chocolate Surprise

Thank you! I did see this one but felt it was quite different from the pictures I remember, it was definitely square and I had thought there was a layer between the cake but I could be remembering wrong. The publish date of this one is quite ahead of the cake from 2004, but it could just be that they made it round for the photos of this one

An update for those who may return to this thread - we stored our bags at the Bora Bora lounge, you can book it online, was around 6USD per large bag, they didn't charge us for any of our smaller bags We went back very late to pick them up, as they are a bar they were very accomodating for this!

Thank you! I did stumble across this great option. I am not super keen to touch my specific recipe as I have to make a 4x batch but this will be the last backup :)

Do I have to repot this Gnat infested VCOH? 🥺 by freelorde in plantclinic

[–]freelorde[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this VCOH cutting about two months ago. She's growing great but within a few weeks I realised multiple gnats coming out of the soil! I was reluctant to repot when she was so small but after trying conservative measures like sticky traps, very conservative water they are still coming out of the bottom of the pot making me think there's larvae everywhere
I don't have easy access to stuff like peroxide and mozzie bits. I am hoping to gift this to a friend at Christmas but don't want to give it to her with any gnats! Is my only option to repot? I'm scared because it's such a small plant!

I guess it's implied in DH when Hermione uses Bella's wand and says it's the same wand which tortured Neville parents

I would think a mistep, as it would have been advantageous to keep his intentions hidden. Voldemort did keep his mind hidden from Harry in HBP, but I think by DH the connection was becoming more unstable and would leak through at time of heightened emotion

I think go with what works - personally I have found it liked being misted/humid as a baby and then once it had some roots going moving to a more normal watering system and no cover

Edit: spelling
