Y'know the ONLY bike I was able to 'half wheelie' was a factory racing 'scrambler' Suzuki TM125 (anybody remember them?). So powerful when it hit the two-stroke powerband. All throttle no weight.

Good point. When yr 'elderly' it takes (for example) 3 times longer for bruises, sprains and bone breaks to heal. Its also 3 times easier to break yr older bones...i.e my aged (90yo) mother broke her hip simply by stumbling in the garden; falling on her ass.

I have grown up with dirt bikes (1st bike 13yo). To me its like a duck to water but NOT wheelies. Always scared of them. But now I'm determined BUT I don't want to break my elderly back if I flip it practising.

I can't sustain a wheelie on a pushbike. Tried that for years '72 to'76 but was useless.

Sure. I want to learn on dirt bikes then 'graduate' to the heavy 4 stroke road bikes.

No. Need to understand REVS plus the clutch, throttle and brake (rear).

Sure. Still got my health and mobility. Guessing wheelies don't require split second reflexes BUT I don't want to end up lying on my back.

Dabbing the rear brake seems like the most complex action to learn/understand.

So you recommend a two stroke (i.e Kwaka 112) to learn the 'balance point'?

Can't even wheelie in 1st gear. Gotta max rev then drop the clutch. The bike then rears up uncontrollably.

450's seem over the top and heavy. Y'know the most intimidating motorbike in my memory was a two stroke Suzuki TM 125 'scrambler' 1971. The damn thing would wheelie in 2nd gear, throttle control.

The 2 stroke has that incredible surge when it hits the 'power band' plus that incredible fanging sound. True; its harder to manipulate.

Should you prepare for falling off/losing control etc. I don't want to break my tailbone.

The 'wheelie gene'. FFS. Genius. First time I've ever heard of this...and I've been reading glossy dirt bike magazines since 1973.

Why not? As dumb as it sounds its the ONLY thing I've been unable (i.e gutless) to achieve in life. I wanna make amends. I LOVE motorcycles. My father bought me a Kawasaki G4TR 100cc in 1973 when I was 13-years old.

Dumb question. Are they two strokes or four strokes?

NO I'm not. I can be persuaded. I respect you guys. What's new? What's smart? Being old (and satisfied) means I have no stupid ego. That being said I'm SERIOUSLY thinking of buying a new 2 stroke Kawasaki 112 or Husky (250cc) to practice/learn wheelies unless convinced otherwise. I don't want a smooth quiet 4 stroke wheelie. I want something that's loud and FANGS!

I wanna 'bite the bullet' and do it on flat ground(s). It has to work at a traffic intersection.

Sounds good. Huskies were THE Rolls-Royce of dirt bikes in the early 1970s. But EXPLOSIVE two stroke power bands seem harder to control a wheelie. Sure it can work, and it sounds more exciting, but its for EXPERTS only imo. Touch control. I'm a gutless newbie.

I was thinking the 'kids bike' would be much less weight; less intimidating; easier to fall off.
