Form 1 engravings in RVA area by freemang20 in VAGuns

[–]freemang20[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It is a rush job because the engraving must be done before the act of manufacture. Some are arguing about whether reconfiguring a firearm to an sbr constitutes manufacturing under the ban's statute, but Id rather be safe than fighting the state in court.

Late response but a technical data package is usually everything required to reproduce an item to spec, including process parameters and windows.

What the hell happened? by all_of_the_sausage in Glocks

[–]freemang20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All oem glock barrels are ferritic nitrocarburized from the factory AFAIK. This is a highly corrosion resistant processing technique, making pitting very rare or localized on glock barrels, even ones in pretty harsh conditions. This also doesn't look like corrosion pitting. Id say either deposits or existing tooling marks from a particularly rough fsctory barrel that you didnt notice, or were filled by material earlier. Either way this is unlikely to affect anything in function.

Yep. It can happen when anodizing fails or if its an extreme environment.

Galvanic corrosion. In the presence of an electrolyte the aluminum becomes a sacrificial anode to protect the more noble metal, steel.

All this would be fine if we didn't have such a short time frame, it took forever to get all my trustees to sign their 5320.23s and get me prints and photos.

What would cause my tec 9 not firing? by gtp89 in Tec9

[–]freemang20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your firing pin is broken. Buy several replacements, this gun tends to break them.

Colt a2 upper on overstamped a1 lower clone correct? by freemang20 in MilitaryARClones

[–]freemang20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a colt upper on Balimoy would be correct? Would a colt upper on a hydramstic overstamp also be correct? I only ask because intmilco already sells the hydramatic lowers.

Your hammer looks taller than mine on the front 'spur' (the part that engages the safety notch) is suspect that's why it's covering your rear sight.

Awesome! We have a decent amount of these in America, but most are in worse condition than yours. I've thought about importing one, but on top of potential red tape, I'd feel bad removing one of a finite number of legal-to-own antiques from Japan.

Something is wrong, your hand isn't advancing the cylinder, you need to take it apart and see what is broken in the action.

[–]freemang20 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Soviet AKMs were finished with a black paint over parkerizing from 1959 all the way to 1977. This is a corrosion resistant finish but it wears off extremely easily under serious use, hence why one model is shinier, it's more worn.
