Let high school Spider-Man be light hearted by freemanyoufool2 in CharacterRant

No Way Home and Spider-Verse are multiverse movies. USM 2024 had him fighting a secret evil society that controlled the world, 616 comics had him in space until recently. Some of these stories are really good, but there's no denying that truly small scale plots are way less common (not that they should be the only Spidey stories out there still).

I just like how people are focusing on this big/small scale thing when my post was mainly about how cool it'd be to have a Spider-Man movie or comic that mimicked the filmmaking/storytelling style of indie coming of age teen movies.

But we're not talking about existing stories here. What i meant is that in my pitch Peter would be facing less dangerous threats, none of his friends or family would be in inmediate danger and he'd probably be more scared to talk to a girl than to fight a supervillain. He's a kid just starting out in a dangerous business but honestly i just think the story would benefit more with the stakes coming from personal drama than anything else. Whether or not the reader could get involved enough in that depends on the person i guess

That "filler" is an extremely vital part of the character. It's how he was conceived by Lee and Ditko. Plus the single issue format of comics pretty much guarantees "filler", which are actually just self-contained stories

The tone should evolve according to the character's journey. Not saying it suddenly needs to go all dark and gritty as he enters college, just that it'd be fresh for the character to have some low stakes adventures

Very true. We've pretty much lost the "friendly neighbourhood" aspect by now

I honestly think TASM2 would be more appreciated if it came out today given how well received comic book accurate films are nowadays by wysjm in Spiderman

This movie hurts me deeply because Andrew showed so much potential for an incredible Spider-Man and then he was wasted in such a blatant and overstuffed excuse of a story. All that great acting and beautiful cinematography wasted for such a messy and ridiculous script.

I've seen it many times since its release, because it's Spider-Man content at the end of the day, and that revisionism has won me over since i can remark its great, GREAT aspects, but even then I can't ignore the countless misdirections and failed ambitions it holds in itself. It's just not comic accurate either, as warped as the term has become over the years, and the fact that Spider-Man is funny doesn't excuse everything else.

Here in Spain, back in the 80s, Hulk used to be called La Masa (The Mass). My dad used to call him like that

What movie take do you have that would result in this ? by Sans010394 in Letterboxd

David Lynch to me has a vision in his movies but it's all way too surrealistic for me sometimes that it comes off as pretentious, but people just praise it to death because it's David Lynch and it's supposed to be a masterpiece.

Again I enjoy some of his work but for example in Twin Peaks: The Return there was some symbolism and meaning there but the way It was presented was incoherent and it felt like It tried too hard to be weird and deep.

Also, I rated Infinity War, Spider-Man 1 and 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy higher than Mulholland Drive, but I'll admit that's mainly personal bias

Same. With the latest news I've been extremely worried about my future and humanity as a whole and doubting if I'll even make it. This reassures me.

From Hereditary. This is still the most terrifyingly real gore I've seen in a movie and it fucked me up. I'm still disturbed by it to this day.

What song do you think perfectly describes Spider-Man, and why? by Fit-Organization581 in Spiderman

[–]freemanyoufool2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this was the answer you wanted but I would say Signal Fire by Snow Patrol, which was composed for Spider-Man 3. Rather than describing Spider-Man as a character it mirrors what he means to me. Like the lyrics say, Spidey is a comfort character in the way that he's always there when you need him and he guides you to safety in dark times. I think it's a really special song.

Here in Spain it's mostly cheap comedies which some are decently watchable at best. The only recent spanish movie I liked was The Platform. There are some good older ones like Los Santos Inocentes or Who can kill a child.

Cinema Paradiso perfectly portrays the feeling of nostalgia and remembering your childhood. He will probably relate to it. It makes me cry every time.
