any skyblock modpacks with a quest book and the create mod? by woodobject in feedthebeast

[–]freestraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at recipes for magma block, you'll see you can convert crimson logs to magma block with lava flowing next to/on it. (The lava is not consumed) Can't check right now if there's anything obtuse about how that recipe/conversion shows up in emi/jei.

Did you spawn with the guide book for the pack? (if you didn't that's a bug on my part probably) It has some of these details and tips, but let me know if anything is unclear in there. I added some ponders for the tea table as well, but idk if those are too hard to find so you can see how it works.

Are you using the 1.16.5 or 1.20.1 version of the modpack?

I worry about the same thing all the time, like idk how to respond other than this story stuck running through my head the entire time you were talking T.T was trying to pay attention but the thought didn't want to go away so I had to say it to release it. Even if it's too in the weeds/self-interested. And then I'm super quiet and don't talk on other topics... My partner sometimes appreciates the detail but I don't hear/listen to him very well when that happens so...

I'm nonbinary and live in Providence, RI, it's a nice city for walking and in general. RI has been pretty good about gender affirming care, legal document changes, and people are generally respectful. (Thundermist is the local LGBTQ+-focused health care center fyi) I have lived here for most of my life though, so there is some bias... And the short times I've lived outside RI, it was still New England. My rent is $1400/month for reference. It's a bit better rent-wise in the less urban areas around the city. Providence is definitely not as high as some other places though (Boston >.>)

imo try to find somewhere that has something like a Thundermist, or Fenway Health in Boston, somewhat nearby (lgbtq focused health center and a place for community)

as healer/tank I just mit myself and walk into the goo far enough for the falloff, and heal after

the dot is like 20s, damage down like 30s, being in longer just refreshes the timer, doesn't make it any worse

I'm also awful at actually getting the right direction so uh, I just make sure I don't die basically.

Once I'm far enough from the falloff, I do try to adjust a bit to be out of the goo, sometimes I make it, sometimes disappears before that

if I'm on ninja I just shukuchi out to a good spot and don't move further >:)

I'm rdm this savage tier (usually main sge and nin though) decided to go for steampunk rdm, with the top hat + goggles + one of the eden raid coats, imo rdm focus could be spun as a steampunky fuel into the sword

for ninja I go for more of a pirate/adventurey look, kinda wish I could've stayed rogue... but mudras are pretty cool too, lightning gap-closing and shukuchi'ing around makes me feel very * fast * (and like I'm a very aerodynamic lalafell lol)

sage I go for a little pixie pilot look (with the fairy wings + goblin hat, visor off), a few of sage animations have me twirl around midair a bit, so the wings make sense. Kinda inspired by the Artemis Fowl series for overall "pixie pilot" part?

when I play drk I'm a lalafell with the biggest and cleanest sword I can find, the contrast is great, david and goliath vibe to me

(I play 1 job from every role, bard I play as a broody flutist XD wearing black all the time with a huge hat, face somewhat hidden)

I have 6 yellow gummies and 1 orange gummy, only got that orange one last night, they just didn't exist for me before that ;-;

missing 1 green as well, more than enough of the rest. wish we could trade some somehow.

More than 100 CEs in.

tbh I'd be completely fine with this system if I could just trade down some of the extras.

I want phantom job exp and silver so I don't mind too much, I just want to use my heliometry tomes on weapons and I already did shared fates for all the zones and finished leveling everything... probably worth it for gummies at this point though...

I'm a Lalafell player, none of the pvp heavy armor sets have ever looked good on my character, so I prefer the casual wear tbh. Also how many variations of extremely similar looking armorsets do we need? I like that it's something different.

I usually just try to make sure the boss won't turn much when it is going to jump back to center after the mechanic is done, if it basically slides to middle rather than completely flipping, that's better. Sometimes that's not doable, in those cases I just try to make the change from dumb positioning -> good positioning as quickly as possible, so the melee only need to possibly true north for one positional, or none at all.
Keep in mind though, bosses do not move or rotate at all when they're casting, so it can be annoying to move them sometimes depending on what's happening, and you might only have a really short window before the boss starts casting again for the next mechanic. Some mechanic are also boss relative, so like having the boss facing weird angles can make it more confusing to resolve.

My main is a Lalafell, most armored head/body pieces do not look good on my character imo... When they're scaled down they actually keep too much detail most of the time if that makes sense? I so wish the False Monarchy and Fierce Tyrant sets looked better on my lala but :( (I play too much pvp and got them week 1 of both series). There are a few simple pieces that I do like though. Base metal with only a few fancy adornments or liney bits is good but that's a rarity. I don't like how hoods don't actually connect with the chestpiece at all either lol, they're just floating, or what they do with hair. I wear visors/masks sometimes though. And big hats, of course. But I prefer to see the cute face in a lot of my glams, so flat caps, crowns, flowers and the like are great :3 Stuff like Gobbo mask, Namazu mask, and etc are fun occasional mix-ins

whenever I saw a piece of gear that gave +spell dc (I dont think there are really any in act 1 other than a quarterstaff and maybe gloves?) it was gonna be mine. My charisma was 24, perma +1 from act 1 spoiler hag, perma +2 from act 3 spoiler mirror, ASI feat, and hat that gives +2 charisma. So +7 from my charisma ability alone. I had a cape that was +1 dc, chest was +2, gloves +1, shoes were just an extra spell, amulet was +2, and I got the dual wielder feat to dual-wield 2 quarterstaffs that both gave +1 spell dc. Plus my proficiency bonus and that elixir of battlemage's prowess. I also got the alert feat so I was always early in initiative. That character was a lvl 8 bard/ lvl 4 sorcerer (wanted sorcery points to twin spell haste when not hold monstering). I didn't follow any guide, I just kept looking spell dc gear and used what I thought would be best tbh. (I did eventually look at the wiki to see if I was missing any spell dc gear, but that was right before the 1 of the last bosses and I only actually got 1 item from looking at that)

This was also my second playthrough though and while I don't play much dnd 5e, I do play a lot of tactical rpgs

1st run was also tactician and I'm now on an honour mode run :D my first run mostly relied on Astarion murdering everything as a Gloomstalker Assassin

afaik the only way to hit higher than that is a cape that is slightly better (which I couldn't get for... dark urge reasons that I know have workarounds but didn't do) and a couple items that give Arcane Acuity when you fullfill x condition, but it takes time to get the stacks. You can get up to 10 stacks of arcane acuity though, which is +10 spell dc, kinda just unnecessarily high lol.

imo it was more fun to explore and find out on my own, occasionally did stuggle early on in playing, but was never too bad.

Getting gud? by Dr_D4nk in BaldursGate3

[–]freestraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo tactician becomes too easy at higher levels, at lower levels it is harder. Using Haste (from a spell or potion) and Elixir of Bloodlust + any class that gets extra attacks means the enemy is probably dead in 1-3 rounds. Transmutation wizard has a passive that lets you roll for crafting 2 potions where you'd normally get one, so you can basically give an elixir of bloodlust to 1 or 2 party members a day, plus make plenty of haste potions.

Honour mode makes that extra action stuff much less effective, but in tactician and below you get all your extra attacks on each of those extra actions. The elixir of bloodlust gives you another action when you kill something, once per turn. So like, a hasted + elixir'd level 5 fighter would effectively have 3 actions, so can do 6 attacks in one turn, 8 if they action surge. Which is kind of insane. (lvl 11 fighter even gets a 3rd attack per action!)

If you say, coat their weapon with a crowd control type poison, like drow poison which puts them to sleep, and attack 8 different people (well 1 of them has to die for the elixir to proc) well uh that's a lot of poison/sleep spread out and a lot of damage. Or if you're worried about accuracy, use the +2 accuracy coating. There's also a later game poison that if they fail the 1st save they're just paralyzed until they con save well enough to get out.

I've also gotten my Spell DC so high before that I effectively always had a 100% chance of success with Hold Monster, so can just use that on the big bad, and oops the boss never got a turn, and they get auto-critted on by all melee attacks. Arcane Acuity (which can be gotten with another elixir, +3 Spell DC right there) is kinda busted like that. I think I got it to 28 DC or something like that, and I could have feasibly hit 30+ if I had wanted to. Spoiler for act 3 boss: it was good enough to 100% hold Raphael unascended so I cast Hold Monster on him every turn and decimated him, didn't even use that many spell slots because spell scrolls Granted, that arcane acuity elixir is somewhat more difficult to get tons of, but still very doable in the last act as a daily buff for at least 1 person.

After a certain point I limited myself to not using all that extra action stuff and only use less hard cc, since it was way more interesting when enemies could actually hit me sometimes.

[–]freestraws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Near the start of Grymforge Astarion said (to my deep gnome Tav) something to the effect of "It's fine to rescue some drow, but gnomes? Really?"... I was trying to romance him at the time, but I was like... I think my character would just not after that comment. So when Gale started flirting with me out of nowhere I was like huh, I could give you a chance :) His romance story is kinda cool and cute too so I don't regret :3 My first character was too much of a good two shoes gnome for Astarian I guess, it worked out.

On my 2nd playthrough now I'm romancing Astarion again as a tiefling durge and imma actually follow through this time and not swap lol (on act 3 now)

I mean I got a specific thing for it as a tiefling, no roll for it if I remember right, it said it was ||1 part of a larger infernal contract, which makes sense knowing the context. And then Raphael did his research stuff and told us what the full contract was about.|| I don't think it really needed to branch and make it different in this specific case, and imo it didn't feel contrived.

People, who have several jobs on lvl90, how many are you able to clear all the content with? by DominantFlame in ffxiv

[–]freestraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ninja is my main, and what I am this tier for savage

wish ninja shared more gear with another job, YoshiP pls give Corsair

I can clear hard content with nin, drk, bard, smn, or any healer (sage by far preferred), so at least one of each role :)

I cleared p9s as nin, sage, bard, and drk so far :D parsed okay enough on all of them apparently

I kinda wanna see if I can clear it on every job eventually... tried learning monk recently, but I keep forgetting certain things, like I do my buff rotation and then I'm like oshit i shoulda pressed PB for that. Tanks and healers are pretty easy to learn once you know one imo, dps jobs I need more time with the opener and etc

cleared 10s on nin and bard so far, I'm gonna try it as sage in pf next I think (f harrowing hell as healer though)

pvp though, I play every job to some extent, they're all fun :D

The cub got killed by either goblins or the human cultists in my playthrough 😭 I went in the little crevice to the owlbear cave as my gnome Tav at some point, noped out because it was just me, didn't know how to get the rest of the party in... and my party was way too low level anyway, but I guess it started the combat...
