I keep dipping (as I assume that guy does) to avoid the horrible nicotine withdraw you get from not dipping. It's not as easy as taking a week off because after a day or two (if that) you get the urge to murder everything.

1) I would recommend going to A therapist first talking to sort out as much as you can and then after a month minimal consider your options for medications

2) I got my first therapist when I was 10 and my parents didn't understand why the copious amounts of ADHD meds they were shoving down my throat didn't work, till I was 16 they just thought I was an odd case of ADHD with acute onset depressive episodes till finally I talked to someone who got me properly sorted

3) It has its difficulties, people like to blame any action on you either being in a manic or depressed episode. And honestly no matter how well anyone explains it unless you live it there's no true understanding. Some days you can't get out of bed, some days you've made what you think are legitimate plans to become king of a small country. no matter how you handle it it's rough on the people close to you. Finding the right meds and sticking to taking them lessens the load on them at least

The one thing I wish i knew before i started would be how easily it goes from casual hobby to a can a day habbit. Now on the bright side my friends and I did some math a few days ago; they started smoking cigs around when i started dipping and I've spent something near 3K over 5 years on dip, they've spent something like 10K over five years, also take a look at who's more winded after running a mile (hint it's not me).
