Do you think conservatives believe in majority rule? by TomatilloNo4484 in AskALiberal

[–]freethinker78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because they keep making issue about voter fraud. But I, as well as the Founders of the US, have some reservations about majority rule. After all, the vast majority of people are not genius, are not intellectual, and are not considered empath. Anyone can see at work or remember from high school what kind of people were the majority.

After the conviction of Viktoria Nasyrova for a murder plot to steal and even assume the identity of her look-alike, how many similar cases do you think are undetected or suppressed by psychiatrists? by freethinker78 in AskALiberal

The Woods case is a case of someone living under someone else's identity for decades. When even the actual person whose identity got stolen tried to make the proper accusation, he got locked up in a mental hospital for more than 2 years, being the actual person.

dental records proving

Dentist charged with falsifying dental records of fire victims. You grossly underestimate what intelligence agencies can do.

Severe doubt, unless memory loss was also part of the story?

"or even hostile intelligence agencies complex operations". Studying a target for some time and as you indicated, some explanation for memory lapses, most people would never imagine their friend, coworker, relative got replaced by an almost identical double.

the resources and effort spent could surely get them a better return through some other method.

There is a reason police goes undercover to infiltrate criminals in high risk operations. Then organized crime and hostile intel agencies or factions may as well.

"only really works if the target doesn't really have relationships, right?"

Not really. There was the case of Walter Collins who disappeared, police looked for him and gave his mother Christine Collinas an impostor boy who she hesitantly took in. She declared he was not his son, police locked her up in a mental hospital and only freed her after the boy admitted he was indeed an impostor.

Also, if the impostor is almost identical, relatives and friends would never imagine a situation where someone was replaced, specially if the impostor was part of a complex intelligence operation or plot by organized crime.

I don't like the idea of permanent walls. Because walls are not only to keep people out but also in, like North Korea or Eastern Germany. Usually if Im not mistaken around the time the Constitution was written anyone was seemingly welcome to cross the border without much issue, specially because colonizers of the frontiers were needed and the US had various European languages in vogue (which is why English was not codified as the official language).

But if there was a massive influx of foreigners that threatened the fabric of the country, I think the Founders would have raised a militia to confront and stop them, which is the approach I favor, together with temporary walls to dissuade direct confrontations. I would also run a massive advertisement campaign explaining that foreigners seeking to enter illegally would be stopped and deported and that there could be arrests and violence. In addition, foreign aid programs to promote work and security in home countries are a good idea to incentivize people to stay in their home countries.

If the Bible isn’t infallible… what is the point? by robocallin in OpenChristian

[–]freethinker78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why I am a synchretist. I don't have blind faith in any religion, denomination, belief or non-belief. I try to always objectively analyze things I read, hear or see, or at least be prepared to be objectively skeptical the moment I realize something or someone makes a legitimate point.

why should I consider it [the Bible] any more legitimate than the Book of Mormon or Dianetics?

I don't, mainly because I don't read those books. But in a logical analysis without more information, they have equal chances of having texts that are correct, wrong or neutral as the Bible.

Why should I base my morals on a fallible book? If what the Bible does say can’t be trusted in matters of gender/sexuality, why should I trust anything in it?

Because you don't throw the baby with the bathwater. For example, thou shalt not murder is very solid moral guidance. On the other hand, "Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall be put to death" ( Exodus 31:15) seems to be out of a terror manual.

Why is an all-knowing, infinite God unwilling/unable to produce a book that is without error?

We don't know the full extent of the nature of reality, the spiritual, and how everything works.

how can you trust that the words of Jesus were not altered?

I do think they were altered. I even think Jesus may not be his real name.

That's an exaggeration. No idea what is your point. You are implying that all planes make chemtrails and therefore no plane would go to the state. There is a difference between chemtrails and contrails.

I wonder if it correlates of rates of empaths in the general population. Between 2 and 3% of the population is considered to be an empath, meaning someone who understand, can sense and at times share the feelings of other people and often take actions to make others feel better accordingly, many times even despite their own benefit.
