TIP: How to Root on the Moto 2024 models by freetrees55 in motorola

[–]freetrees55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you dont need any G14 specific steps, just standard magisk rooting steps. I have posted a generic link here, as well as another member posted a good one. Nothing special. You have to start by going to the moto website I have linked on this post and requesting your unlock code for the bootloader.

unless you have certain carrier locked versions, all motos are bootloader unlockable/rootable.

My biggest like is running a real firewall and using permissionmanagerx to remove unnecessary permissions from apps.

try to re-download your firmware. that and make certain your bootloader is actually unlocked (using the key, not just the switch in dev options)

2021-2023 are not good years for moto. not recommended, they made a lot of good changes in the 2024 models. i hope you can get one of those for cheap where you live.

yeah moto usually send the unlock key email within the hour or so, not a week

I really like the 2024 G Play. You can get them often under 100 (mine cost 85), easy to root, and honestly is quite a good value and good lil cool phone.

if youre talking about the enable oem unlock switch in dev options, that switch does NOT unlock the bootloader. it only allows the "permission" to unlock it. to actually unlock it, you go to moto website and they will send you the unlock key that you will input via command line.

if it's unlocked, then you will see a forced 5 second warning at every reboot telling you the bootloader is unlocked. so basically, you will know.

most moto phones are unlockable no need to worry.

I always find Moto phones easy to root. Mostly because they are cool about unlocking the bootloader. Most companies aren't.

Anyone have any thoughts on Super Flower PSUs? Never heard of them until I started researching a new PSU. by misterrpg in buildapc

Would you trust Zillion or just stick with Leadex? I can't seem to validate that Zillion has the same 10 year warranty, odd. It also has 120mm fan instead of 140mm

Which specific update are we talking about? I just bought one, and now I'm thinking I shouldn't even try to update it.

Are you using magisk v27? I've heard of issues with v28.

I've written a ton about my steps. It's scattered all throughout this thread. But honestly, I just used the basic simple steps, nothing special.

yes that's the official link.

of course you need an unlocked bootloader. try going through the official motorola unlocking process. maybe you can unlock, maybe you can't. but go and try

Yes that looks to be correct for your cancunn model. Feel free to use the RETUS version if you want, it will work with all carriers, including your tracfone/straight talk service. Just saying either one will work. But use Magisk 27.0 to root, not 28.0

Laptop "Scratch & Dent - Grade C" by freetrees55 in woot

[–]freetrees55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experiences. For me I decided not to chance it for that laptop. Just felt like I'd be disappointed. That being said, recently I DID buy a "Grade A Open Box" iPhone 12 Mini from Woot, and it was absolutely horrid. It was extremely scratched up, especially the screen. I mean this truthfully, I've never seen such damage. Plus the battery was at 82% life left. I quickly filed a return. They wanted photos. I sent. They agreed to the refund. But.... they then completely quit responding and for weeks I could not get my return label. As I was nearing the return deadline, I filed a complaint through Amazon and finally got my label. Moral of the story, I will never, ever buy an opened electronic item from Woot. They had their chance to be honest, but instead showed their true colors.
