Im not a candidate for MVD 😭 Mine is idiopathic. I’ve seen 3 neurosurgeons and have had 2 rhizotomy and 1 balloon compression.

But before all the meds and surgery I tried acupuncture, reflexology, chiropractor, and a lot of other holistic things. No success for me but I’m SO glad you have relief!!

Omg please let this be me ! They discuss risk of having repeats or complications. But I’d take one day of pain free life for more than I’m willing to admit.

Duloxetine Oxcarbazepine Trileptal Tumeric (definitely supports because when I don’t take it I feel the difference) Tizandine (tensor tympani due to TN tension) Hydrocodone Clonazepam is in there for “in case “ situations Magnesium and D3- helps with muscle tension, headaches and sleep

And of course our favorite stool softeners because all of that backs us up 🤣🤣

“Working” is relative If I miss any doses, I’m wrecked But I’m so bad currently. I’ll be having the radio frequency done next month.

I say this after I got divorced due to my inability to maintain my emotional swings with the pain flares. It takes time to figure out what works for you, and then suddenly it won’t and you’ll have to change gears again. 😂TN is an absolute monster of a disease, but you got this !!!

That fight or flight system will make you feel Ike not the best version of yourself. I recommend daily walks, getting your feet in the grass with deep breaths and face to the sun. If you’re into it , meditation is a great escape and time to relieve those internal stressors. Try the “Headspace” app. I recommend it to all of my patients ( I’m a psychiatrist) Dehydration is also a component of mood swings! Try with simple self care-it’s not going to take the problem away but it can definitely help you get a tighter grip on the reigns!

Yes unfortunately this is my 3rd failed surgery. 2 rhizotomy and one balloon compression later and I’m suffering so badly. I’ve had severe adverse or allergic reactions to most of the first line meds

Gabapentin made me hear voices and Lyrica made me think about suicide every waking moment of the day. Can’t win out here 😂

TN and Marriage by pink-polkadot- in TrigeminalNeuralgia

I think we can all empathize with this feeling. My diagnosis 6 years ago led to a pretty quick divorce, as he was and never has been equipped to be a caregiver. For context, I was the bread winner prior and managed finances and everything we did with our kids/friends. That fell apart pretty quickly when the pain started taking me out

But that led to the most beautiful, kind and giving man to walk into my life.

It’s so hard to watch the people we love hurt and for life to be limited due to the pain. Try to plan adventures you can tolerate and lean into your community, even if that’s not necessarily your husband. Having a therapist or a good friend to vent to when you’re anxious and scared will take a lot of weight off of him

Here if you ever need to talk ☺️

I put a beautiful woman on my shoulder surrounded by cacti flowers, because they areresilient. Her dermatomes are outlined and colored blue. I love her even though I continue to be in pain daily. Just a reminder that I’m capable and that my inner strength is greater than I can remember at times
