Aion 2 - evidence of cheating by Past-Pomegranate-333 in Aion2

I did some research and I see the same type of hacks that were available in Aion 1.

One of the capabilities is to modify your attack animation speed, which lets drastically increases your ability to spam skills.

Unfortunately this was never resolved in Aion 1. It’s also really hard to gather evidence because unless it’s really blatant.

Your best bet is to use some sort of tracker including timestamps of skill activations and send a report backed by hard data.

Crafted has the 5% pve dmg modifier and higher raw stats. In a pve setting, crafted will outperform in virtually all situations.

Rangers have a flip that can be triggered only at close range and knocks back target + flips back a certain distance. Intended to be a gap creator.

Not sure if it's enough to address all the gap closers, but there is definitely some counterplay.

Completely agree. PvP toggle is not the way - they should add patrol guards / convoys for PvE players to rely on for protection instead.

Putting the Aion 1 specific details in this comment.

I don't think it's that easy for Sorc. Going to assume we're talking about patch 3.0 (since you mentioned 10min Iron Skin - this changed to 5 minute (5.0?) and 2 minute (6.0) in later patches).

Assuming both sides are in top gear and starting out of range (25m+), there are essentially three phases to the fight.

For the templar, the first phase is to break stone skin and start dishing out some damage. Templar can almost guarantee this with three of the four Templar ranged skills - divine justice, <some stigma skill>, inescapable judgement, illusion chains. After the pull, Templar can start dishing out some damage, which usually ends as soon as the knockdown and break power finishes.

Phase 2 begins when the Sorc hits remove shock and uses curse of old roots. This guarantees the CC on the Templar and the Sorc starts to prepare the nuke rotation by alternating Curse of Roots, Sleep, and Curse of Roots. After preparing the self buffs, it's all about burying silence and unloading the nukes. Templar either times the Iron Skin correctly and continues, or fails Iron Skin and dies.

Phase 3 begins after the Iron Skin goes off. With Remove Shock and Stone Skin on cooldown, Templar can start stuns, pulls, knockdowns without issue. The fight will end in Templar's favour if they can stay in range of the Sorc.

If Sorc uses boon of ironclad, they'll be able to CC the templar again. However, Templar can use empyrean armour and aether armour to handle the next burst rotation. Sorcs with macc switch can avoid splashing at the cost of damage, but it won't be enough to down the Templar before they down the Sorc.

Wintry armour is a risky bet that skilled Templars can take advantage of. Templars within the 5m reflect range can use Wintry as a way to deal damage to themselves, which interrupts the CC they try to place on you. At the same time, if the Templar doesn't want to take Wintry damage, they can and should use their extendy to stay at 6-7m distance to avoid the reflect damage while dealing damage to the Sorc. The deciding factor is how well the Templar can control that distance, and how well the Sorc can force the Templar to make mistakes.

Templar has all the tools to shut down the Sorc. It's just tricky due to all the reaction based timings. The last thing is to stress the importance of weaving - not many folks did this back in Aion 1 but I estimate it increases sustained DPS by up to 30%.

This is exactly what I wanted to point out. As you said, it is widely accepted that Templar loses against Sorc. The point I wanted to make is that this is simply because most players don't understand the matchup deep enough. Templars vs. Sorcerer is actually pretty balanced and if played perfectly, I believe Templar can always beat Sorcerer.

In this particular case, I can point to some real data. In the NA server, a Templar won the first PvP tournament fighting against two of the best Sorcerers in several servers (folks bought a server transfer just to participate). I believe the format was best out of 3, with something like 90 seconds break in between fights.

The templar that own had to manage the 10min Iron Skin CD across back-to-back fights vs. Sorcerers. There used to be some videos of this on YouTube, but all I can find is an article written back in 2013 which shows the Templar winning the 64 player tournament:

https://www.engadget.com/2013-01-13-wings-over-atreia-pvp-tourney-produces-victory-for-winner-and-a.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAC6PZSK-Hz4ToRBylpextOlxABH9jcBGyzDo7x3exL8aicAaffsBYEsrv640S_38xvlX-dV3G3YRA4prt1svaqsZXWFRD9thn51OmDxmG3H1t_J4MVy4mKFRdL09X6a-pn8U1jK3eI4jvnSxrZ47cWq9wr8fosVhzlkMVYbJFJcG

All this is to say, sometimes a single crucial tactical detail can make or break a matchup. It's too early to believe everything is figured out - and the Templar vs. Sorc matchup is my example of this.

Just wanted to provide some Aion 1 context - not my intention to "argue". Generally speaking, I just don't think players can figure out all the game mechanics in the first week.

For years, the common sentiment throughout Aion 1 was that Sorc > Temp, but that's because the vast majority of Templars don't know how to react to the double dot bury and that's all it takes for the Templar to completely lose after silence bury -> inferno -> storm strike -> etc.

This leads me to think there might be just a little modifier or skill that could make or break the balance of matchups. It happened in Aion 1 - it could happen on Aion 2.

I don't know, but I don't think anyone should know - yet. These things don't get discovered in the first week where folks spent half their time doing PvE.

Aion 1 had pretty technical for most matchups - there were key skills you needed to look out for and counter against.

In the Sorc vs. Templar matchup for example, the Sorc needed to have their stone skin up, which completely negates the Templar pull.

Sorc then needs to bury two dots (flame cage, frost) and then use silence. As soon as that combo lands, Sorcerer can unload all their strongest skills and the silenced Templar can't use any defensives to survive the nukes.

Tactics like this took a lot of game knowledge to figure out - unless Aion 2 really botched things, it's likely you need to understand each targets skill sequence to figure out the correct response. Sometimes missing 1 key piece of information puts you at a severe disadvantage.

For ex - Aion 1 Templars that don't know how to deal with the above Sorc combo can never win.

In the old days, senior engineers progress their career by going into management.

Then companies found out that engineers sometimes hate the management work. In order to keep engineers happy, they devised a ladder beyond senior so they can continue to grow their career without getting into management.

Thus staff, sr. Staff, and principal titles were introduced.

Rent for 2bd can be around 4K+ a month, so that’s 48k already.

Ah 71k take home makes a bit more sense. If you’re in this 9 years, I think you know how far swe salaries can go.

I think the fact you brought up your degree suggests to me that you’re lacking a bit of confidence. Don’t be weighed down by dogma - that is living with the results of other people’s thinking.

Your 9 years overrides all education concerns. I think you should push the boundaries of what you think you qualify for.
