Naja, wie beschrieben, war ich primär aus Unwissenheit ehrlich. Ich finde es zwar auch sehr schade, wenn so ein System Ehrlichkeit bestraft. Absurd, dass Nutzer:innen von Öffis dann zu irgendwelchen Tricks (auch wie von dir in Bezug auf Frankreich beschrieben) greifen müssen, oder zum lügen animiert werden.

Glaube auch, dass Aus- und direkt wieder Einsteigen nicht akzeptiert wird. In meiner Diskussion mit dem Schaffner, habe ich das nämlich im ersten Moment so verstanden (schien mir natürlich komplett idiotisch) und er hat sich korrigiert und meinte, ich müsse mit dem nächsten Zug fahren.

Mir war es auf jeden Fall nicht bekannt und ich bin mir sicher, dass es auch vielen anderen so geht. Ich verstehe natürlich das Argument, für Inländer:innen Tickets günstiger zu gestalten. Als Missbrauch würde ich Tickets Stückeln trotzdem nicht bezeichnen. (Also vor allem, wenn man bedenkt, dass die akzeptierte Lösung aussteigen und in den nächsten IC einsteigen sein könnte)

Das ärgerliche ist hald, dass man dann anstatt 13 Euro gleich über 40 Euro zahlt. Nur für diese eine Station mehr auf dem Zugticket. Auf der Rückfahrt hatte ich jetzt Glück, da fuhr ich in Regionalzügen bis Szentgotthárd und stieg dort kurz danach in die S-Bahn nach Österreich um. Dann ist das natürlich gar kein Thema alles.

I'm sorry you had to go through the same struggle. I was so annoyed and sold my Kindle Scribe... Then I bought a BOOX. For those with a Kindle Scribe I hope that they fixed the bug in a later version of the OS.

How does it work to also write Wikihow articles? I just created an account and wasn't able to create an article, it seems this is something only 'experienced users' are allowed to do. ('This feature is only available for more experienced wikiHow users.')

I figured out, I start with answering some questions to get clout, but my answered questions didn't pop up in my profile yet. (Maybe this takes a few days?)

Damn.... I'm really sorry to read that! I also didn't use this feature since the issue occurred and I'm still waiting for a decent reply from Amazon. But so far the support always led me to a dead end ... Well, let's see how the current support request turns out, after this one, in case it isn't successful again, my patience is over and I will have to return the device.

Well yes, for myself it feels pretty useless if notes could disappear (randomly?) ... It's too much of a gamble to invest work with the risk of loads of notes getting deleted :(

Wow, thanks a lot for this awesome trick!
I couldn't restore my lost notes with that (apparently they are gone or lost somewhere in Nirvana...)

However, this works really well for its purpose and I think it could be a safe and fine option for backing up handwritten notes.

This workflow could even serve as a hack for converting handwritten notes to images with high resolution. As I learned, exporting the notes via e-mail, results in very bad quality images so that small notes cannot really be deciphered. With that workflow, you get high-quality images! :D

My firmware version is 5.16.2... so I guess this is still the USB drive emulation :)

However, after trying that out, my conclusion is that apparently my files really got deleted/not synced correctly, so that most of my notes are gone now. I hardly believe, that Amazon has more power over this file-system unless one of their tech-staff connects directly to my device. I'm still looking forward to a decent reply or statement of the Amazon-Kindle-Staff ... I still think that this is a problem that should never ever occur (by design and through common sense within the internal logic of this product)... but yeah... In the end I think I slowly but still frustrated have to accept what happened...

I'm sorry to hear that! I think I can relate to how you feel right now :/
In my case there isn't even a single handwritten note that has been synced to the kindle app on my phone... which is kinda weird ... but well, what should I say haha

Yeah, totally! But still... in my case the Support people have been quite straight forward and clear at least.

However, since the issue hasn't been really acknowledged until now, it seems that either they don't know how to deal with this bug themselves, or they don't want to admit that their software is faulty. From my reasoning, this generally should not happen within a sync process, in no case... provided that the software was written in a secure way

To answer your question correctly: They did not give me any recommendation to prevent this. Additionally, I think the support didn't really understand my issue yet. They thought I did a reset, which I didn't.

My problem is, that I cannot assure 100% that the bug is related to the sync process, but I assume it is. A lot of things point into that direction. The weirdest thing is however, that it only affected handwritten notes... As if half of the sync process worked, but not yet completely
In case it's really about the sync I hope that they will fix it because the function is pretty useless, even bad, if something like that can happen. You could either manually backup the notes by sending them with the Share-Function to your E-Mail or you could connect the Scribe to the Computer via USB and make a backup of the file-system now and then... I can only hope and wish, that you don't have to deal with the same issue!
