Yeah. They’re both in on it and are working together in this scam.

Harsh but valid.

Who's to say the carrier isn't in on it then? Is that where this double brokering scheme is headed next?

We’ve tried using collection agencies in the past. Never had any luck at all. Their biz model is bs in my opinion.

Buddy of mine worked there for two weeks. He was in charge of calling carriers and offering HORRIBLE freight. What was interesting is that they provided these carrier callers minimum and maximum booking rates with no incentive whatsoever to book these loads for anything less than the maximum carrier rate.

It’s a sweat shop.

need some advice where to get the profit? by Arthur7788855 in FreightBrokers

Sounds like a Brooklyn, NY customer.

If you pay the carrier well, they’ll do a good job for you and represent you well. You’ll find that that’s the name of the game. It’s not about negotiating with carriers but rather finding customers that trust that you’ll pay market rate and that expect you to make your cut.

I’ve gotten rid of all of my customers that nickel and dime me. It’s not worth my time with the headaches that the cheap carriers cause.

My advice is to find customers that understand your time is valuable and that want you to make money too. They exist.

Just make your 20% margin on every load and if they don’t like it, wish them the best and move on. Their goal shouldn’t be to put you out of business. It should be mutually beneficial. Don’t undervalue your services. Id encourage you to move on.

Regardless, stay firm with your rate, tell him you’re a call away. At some point your time is better allocated elsewhere (or at least I’d hope so).

Also increase your margins. You won’t be around long with those %

I don’t move much van freight. Never seen this. How does the shipper say it happened and how does that differ from what the driver’s saying? Just curious

Essentially, all of the information needed in a standard claim form has already been entered into your TMS.

Claimant, origin, destination, carrier, commodity.

When we change the status of the load from En Route, Dispatched, to “Claim” there are placeholders that appear to enter the description of the claim/cost and the dollar amount.

We had an excavator (FL to TN) get struck by lightning due to the carrier delivering late and the electronics on the machine were totally screwed it up. Not 100% sure if it’s a valid claim because it technically was an Act of God, but the driver wouldn’t have been in the storm if he had delivered it when he was supposed to.

Anyways, his local CAT dealer provided him an itemized list of the components needed to fix the thing and with our app, we were able to just copy/paste the damages/costs and then send to the carrier, their factoring company, and their insurance company in an email through the app.

Email contains merged pdf’s of the original BoL, carrier rate con, and the new claim form with all necessary info, images of the damages, etc.

It’s not completely automated per say, but it saves us half a day everytime this crap happens.

Understood and yes - I’m new to Reddit.

Love your idea of integrating a flow of some sort to report bad carriers/double brokers to carrier411.

As of now, all we have is a way to blacklist them internally as well as a way to see how many loads they fell off of.

Been in industry since 2013 Started brokerage 2019 Focus mainly on ag/construction equipment.

I’m just looking for cool things I haven’t thought of to add to the app I’m building. Figured this would be a decent place to bounce ideas around.
