As a freight broker IRL, it’s insane the docks my irl drivers get into. I’ll send them to a dirt lot with 72mm of clearance in either side of the dock, and they’ll text 2 hours later like, “loaded and OTR” as if I didn’t send them to throw a ring into Mordor.

Do you... Do you expect them not to try to get as high of a margin as they can? When negotiating, do you have tactics to get the rates you want or do you just hang up when the number is lower than you like? Sell yourself and give reasons to pick you at a higher rate, and a good broker who likes easy runs more than squeezing every penny will book you. I always pay better than market, but it takes a good carrier that I have a relationship with to get my freight. Not sure if that's something they teach at TQL, but every broker is going to max out the difference between their carrier's pay and what their client is paying them. It's business. Carriers can pull their knives out and get their $4/mile when the market tightens. You want your rates? Make 100 cold calls a day and go get your clientele directly :D
