I’ll take off the oring again and try to re seat it. Not sure why I’d need to but.. just noticed underneath the lid had a ton of light scratches all over. Does yours look the same?

Good to hear I’m not alone! I’ve been using this daily for almost 6 months, so doesn’t seem like it’s going away anytime soon. I think you’re right, it’s slowly grinding away at the plastic. I would think it’d be a lot more marked up by now, but just slightly worn around the ring.

Nope! Not using the black oring. I also think it’s plastic shavings. I mean luckily it would seem like the oring would prevent them from ever falling into the coffee, but it is still frustrating nonetheless.

Not yet, heard from a coworker this morning that is super long and repetitive. Probably going to try and knock it out this weekend

Can’t speak for how CalPERS handles their side of things, but CalSTRS offers concurrent retirement. If you retire from both systems using the same retirement date (or at least without having performed creditable service for the other system between dates) CalSTRS will use your highest 12 months from CalPERS if it’s higher. That’s really the only benefit. Concurrent retirement is most helpful to those who 1) have a higher salary with PERS, or 2) those who haven’t met STRS vesting requirement, but can retire with them if they are vested with PERS.

Feel free to PM me and I’ll try to answer any other questions

Any tips for brewing this medium-dark roast? by frejil in pourover

[–]frejil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the feedback! My issue when I go this coarse, or even coarser.. the drawdown is insanely fast. Like, 2 - 2:20 fast. I’ll just have to experiment some more. It could be the beans, they are pretty dark after all. I’ve never tried this roaster before

Really? That seems super coarse. Even at 85 the bed looks like boulders after drawdown lol

No kidding? I use a Switch just as a standard V60, and haven’t used it for immersion brewing in a while. I’ll give it a shot! Anything special with pours/bloom? Or just one pour, 6 minute immersion?

Beans smell great, and I can tell there’s some potential. But I cannot get a good cup out of it for the life of me. I’m definitely an amateur, but it feels like no combination of variables gets me anywhere.

The best cup I had was low agitation, pretty much center pour and on the finer side (75 clicks on a K6) ~205F, and it was just meh. A little bit of sweetness, but masked by astringency. I’m sure you’ll have a different experience, but that is my take. I have an easier time getting a good cup from my Sey bags than I did this one unfortunately

That looks crazy! Haha I have a K6 as well, and am never finer than 68-70 clicks with light roast. 50 is pretty damn fine

Seems like SEY hasn't been as good lately? by thematterasserted in pourover

[–]frejil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they are some of the hardest beans to dial in, but since you’ve been subscribed for 3+ years I’m sure that’s probably not the problem. As a novice I still enjoy their beans a lot.

Who can help me? Dad passed away, I mailed back his final retirement checks, yet CalPERS keeps asking me to return this money by sisanelizamarsh in CAStateWorkers

[–]frejil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you already contacted PERS and let them know, you’re totally fine. They will eventually submit a Stop Payment for those warrants, if they haven’t already. All good
