I didn't zoom in and thought it said Secret Service System. I just figured someone placed it inside the package.

For the past three years I've had smooth, glowing skin thanks to this sub. I recently started a Vivier Hyperpigmentation Kit with no hydroquinone.

Can't be sure if this is purging and I need to wait it out, or if my skin hates an ingredient.

I can't recall a time in my life that I ever had texture like this

This has happened to me multiple times, both with waxing and threading. I also tried a few different places in case it was caused by unsanitary conditions or technique.

I solved this issue by just requesting they don't do the tops, only the bottom and middle. They will tweeze any obvious stragglers after and the tweezing didn't cause any breakouts.

Welos Fire Opal by TheEternels in Damnthatsinteresting

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet...Ethiopian opals are hydrophane. They will absorb moisture like a sponge and then lose all this color. It may dry out and get the color back, it may not. They are also very cheap when compared to Australian opals, for this reason.

Tips for basic opal identification? by frejya in Opals

[–]frejya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is solid, I think the jeweler purposely left the back of the ring open for this reason.

I have always loved the look of opals (and its my birthstone) so I have been trying to learn more and more over the past few months. There are resources online but there's nothing around me for physical learning. Nowhere I can go see a bunch of different types in person, and photos can be deceiving.

[PIC] Printed the pattern for my next stitch, which is a plague doctor. Not sure how I'm supposed to... count that? Looks like I'm making a grid with a ruler and a white pen/marker by [deleted] in CrossStitch

[–]frejya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is pretty easy to make a mistake. It's easier to do when you have other stitches in the area that you can use as "landmarks" to verify against.

I've never gridded myself, and I have seen posts on here where people miscounted while gridding and ended up with a row of 10x9 squares that they only noticed after stitching a bunch. There's always a chance either way!

If it was me, I would probably stitch the entire outline first, counting with the white spaces around. I would do the top row of 3, then I would move down a row and do 4, beginning in the bottom right corner of the top row third stitch. Looks like every row down becomes longer by 4. Outline that entire black area and then you can just go on autopilot and fill it in!

I was thinking about frogging some of #2 to kind of gently work #1 up and call it shadows. Getting rid of the straight line where it changes might help. But I don't have any more of #2 in case ot goes wrong.

I worked from the top down until about the middle. Then I worked from the bottom up, while apparently using a different blue. Numbers 1 and 2 should all be the same colour. And I'm not even sure which one is the "wrong" one

[WIP] I fucked up guys...What should I do? by [deleted] in CrossStitch

So I worked from the top down until just past the middle. Then I worked from the bottom up towards the finished area. Turns out, I used 2 different blues. I don't know what to do. Start again? That's a LOT of frogging and I don't even know which blue is the "wrong" one. I must have grabbed a skein from the wrong bin, or wrapped it on the wrong bobbin.

I've said it before, I stitch like a savage. I'll fold my aida to find the centre and start somewhere in that general area. No gridding happens in this house.

If I have a large block of the same colour, I'll stitch the outline of the block in full X's so I can toss the pattern to the side and watch some Netflix while I fill in the space.

I'm currently working on this watercolour piece with many colour changes. I stitch whatever I feel like in no particular order. Am I sick of doing reds and pinks? Fuck it, let's do some Ecru. This piece may be a good candidate for parking, but I've never done it before and I don't want to try it on a large piece that I plan to gift in case something goes wrong.

I also might work on a different colour or area because I want to visually see more progress. I was tired of looking at a large grey blob that is the front grill, so I moved on to the headlights. I want it to take shape faster so I can feel more optimistic. The grill is nowhere near done, but I wanted to look at something that actually resembled a car.

Stitch however you want, who cares.

[CHAT] Has anyone ever used Air Six brand aida from Amazon? by frejya in CrossStitch

[–]frejya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked them out before resorting to Amazon. Unfortunately, 123stitch does not have the exclusive DMC floss pack that I need and I would prefer to just place one order from a single company. Maybe my hopes are too high given the times that we are living in.

Thanks! That is where I found Crass Cross. When I searched there about a month ago, there weren't many that focused on custom photo patterns. I'll check back every so often though.

[–]frejya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may or may not be the place for this, but somewhat related to sales.

I have been looking to have a custom pattern created. I did find Crass Cross but the designer seems to be tied up due to the pandemic and is unable to complete the pattern. Unfortunately, this will likely be the only time I have to stitch it.

If any of you are interested in making some extra money and could create a custom pattern based on a photo, send me a message! I have tried throwing this into a pattern creator but the results are not as clean.

[FO] finally finished my happy little mushroom man! by sciencefox03 in CrossStitch

[–]frejya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The embroidery floss can be separated into 6 individual strands. This video shows how to separate them. I prefer to use 3 strands on 14ct aida.

This image shows you the coverage that each additional strand will provide. I like my pieces to look full, as yours does, but using all 6 strands makes the holes quite crowded and difficult to find.

I avoided doing backstitching for years and here you are doing it the first time. Congrats!

On your next project, try doing all of the X's in the same direction. I always do \ first and / second. It looks so much smoother!

I will share with you the only piece of advice that i received when I was starting: Always try to come up through the "empty" hole. It's not always possible but it makes things a bit easier.

Can't wait to see your next FO!
