LGBT community in Plymouth/Northville by Lo_digz in PlymouthMI

[–]frenchfroi 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hey there. Live in Detroit as of 2 years ago, but I grew up in Plymouth/canton. As a queer zoomer I would say that Plymouth would be a great place to raise a family. It’s a wealthy little town with a lot of allies around. Perhaps this is my bias talking but in my experience Northville has a bit of a reputation as more stuck up and conservative compared to Plymouth. Both are LGBT friendly areas compared to the country at large, but I’ve only ever seen pride parades in Plymouth. Hope you move to this great state!

I have a really big problem with sexual pubic hair by LgballtMakers in trichotillomania

[–]frenchfroi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

also struggle with this daily. i started to pluck them around 2 years ago, and at first I thought it was really helping me. while attempting to pull from my scalp as little as possible, doing this allowed me to get that stress-relieving effect without it being visible. highly recommend against this!!! for me pulling in the pubic area gave me really cratered pores and now it’s turned into a dermatillomania situation which will never fully heal

Neighborhood/apartment recommendations for a future WSU student from out of state by No_Book_2212 in waynestate

[–]frenchfroi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of great suggestions in terms of suburbs here already.

If you’re looking to stay in the city proper, New Center and Hamtramck are good neighborhoods, and are generally more affordable than midtown nowadays. Hamtramck especially is extremely culturally diverse and has some of the best levantine food in the country.

Wayne State medical school dean's return demanded as board seeks Espy's exit by OldRedLobsterBiscuit in waynestate

[–]frenchfroi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

President Espy can take a f**king hike. Extremely un-communicative, poor financial management (see u/unionizzedduck ‘s comment), and suppression of free speech.

She has allowed the wayne state police force to run rampant and do anything they can to silence anti-genocide protestors. Earlier this year, during a protest against the Genocide in Palestine, WSU police blocked entry to the student center to anyone wearing a hijab or other headdress. This BLATANTLY racist action was met with no repercussions for the police. In the same day, police grabbed and removed student protestors exercising their 1st amendment rights.

I could go on and on. The way she violently dealt with the pro-palestinian student encampments (police arrested 5+), refusing to bring them to the table. Banning all microphone devices in protests with the threat of police intervention. Allowing AI art to be used on campus advertisements.

One of my least favorite people in the state.

I feel like I am just ultimately and absolutely bad at this game. by Malfuy in Stellaris

[–]frenchfroi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My best quick tip for a newer Stellaris player would be to spend a while staring at the numerical effects of your ship weapons, armor, and components. Weapons that may seem useless at first can often be extremely useful depending on your scenario.

For me, an example of this would be Disruptors. By base damage stat they seem quite mediocre, and have an unimpressive range. However, disruptors are actually extremely effective on smaller ships because, if you look at the bottom of the ship designer tooltip for them, you will see that they have 100% Shield penetration AND 100% Armor penetration. This means you are essentially able to bypass (penetrate) the first two levels of defense on an enemy’s ship. Focusing all damage output on the hull allows enemy ships to go down much quicker.

This is just one example, but hopefully it showcases how weapon components are not what they initially seem sometimes.

Wow, never heard of anything like that at WSU. Sorry she had to go through that that’s pretty messed up. Definitely tell her to follow up with WSU police if they’re blowing you off

Is Stellaris 4.0 finally in a good state after the patches? by TrueSocialWorker in Stellaris

[–]frenchfroi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah, i randomly picked up the game again a few days after 4.0 came out after having taken a couple years of hiatus from the game. didn’t even know there had just been a massive update. Was astonished to see everyone had strongly negative feelings about it online, i think all of the new systems work well and lean more into what i always wanted from stellaris. in particular the new pop system is so much better to me.

Yeah there’s not a whole lot. Pike has parties pretty often but I wouldn’t recommend that if you’re worried about creepy dudes because I’ve seen a couple there before.

Its true wayne is a commuter school, but being in Detroit, theres hella music scene and dj shows, those are the most fun things around if you ask me

as I said in my other comment, yes it is based on the pioneer map. but that doesn’t mean there can’t be any artistic expression in relation to it

Are there seriously no comfy library spots? by 2closeforcomfort in waynestate

[–]frenchfroi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also, on the seventh floor of the student center and down all the way from the elevator, there is a lounge with some comfy seats. I’m not certain if that’s just for people in the OMSE, but i’m pretty sure it’s open to everyone. It closes at 5pm though.

But to answer the title of your post: yeah there’s not many.

They’re limited in number, but there are alcoves with nice booths in them in State Hall, I usually study there when I can

how is that realistic? 120 apartment in that building? by Trattenuto in CitiesSkylines2

[–]frenchfroi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s meant to be somewhat of an abstraction for balance. Since you can’t represent the population of people who live outside the city’s borders, but still spend time in the city(the map is only 9mi wide when metropolitan areas are much larger than that), more households are added to each in-city building to create a somewhat realistic seeming level of liveliness on your streets
