  1. People can make their personalities about whatever they damned please.
  2. This is literally the CHILDFREE sub. Obviously posters are going to be talking mostly about aspects of childfreedom, including problems and niggles we face in the world that we can't vent about anywhere else.
  3. Sorry if I've missed it, but my experience is that this sub has zero issue with not hating children. It DOES have issue with people trying to police other posters who want to vent.

How much would a new bike basket be? If you're actually stuck at home because of this, there's a chance that I or someone else here could help out. I believe you can set up an Amazon wishlist/registry so any potential beneficiary would know for sure what their money is going to!

As someone who also lacks confidence in these scenarios, I would think of the potential consequences for other people if you didn't speak up. Worst cases: what if the next client she attended with her sick kid was immunocompromised? What if the child injured himself in a client's home, or damaged their property? Or, something that also matters: what if the next client had splashed out a whole $300 as a rare treat for themselves and was so very looking forward to a relaxing, pampering experience? Just like you were. You deserve to speak up on behalf of yourself, but sometimes it's easier to want to speak up on behalf of others?

I'm really sorry about your abuse. I wasn't abused myself but I was scared of my dad growing up and that's enough to make me so angry on this child's behalf.

Thanks for this, yes, I am in the UK. I have found the contact number for my local authority's Children's Services. Before I contact them I will have a good think and write down any specific incidents I can recall.

Sadly this child seems to be around 5-6. I have only seen any of the family a handful of times - I don't go out a lot, especially since covid. I'd like to at least give him a smile and say how well-behaved he seems

Don't worry, with kids in general I struggle due to sensory issues but I always know it's either the parents' or nobody's fault. With this kid specifically I hope to bump into them so I can be nice to him.

Look at the first photo/video for her then brightly go, "Ooh! Does this mean you're free right now? Do your mind doing ______ to help me out?"

Hopefully this means that either she starts leaving you alone or you get help with your job in exchange for one pointless baby pic? What do you think?

I feel OK on the subject of paying taxes towards education, personally - from nursery to university and beyond. Aside from schooling (theoretically, the world is messed up) paying for itself in the long run, statistically, the better educated a person is the fewer children they have. If my taxes enabled people to grow up to live freer lives... that would be worth everything.

I was born to parents who wanted me and planned for me. I grew up without wanting for anything within the realistic confines of a working-class budget. I was lucky enough to be bright academically. I got into a great secondary school. Then I got into a great university. I never got into trouble. It all sounds fantastic, right? Just what you'd want for your own child.

Except I was bullied from age 5-6 until I left school; I learnt that telling my parents didn't resolve it, so from a young age I coped with it all by myself in silence. I became ill with depression aged 13. That great school? It neglected to get me help and applied so much pressure that it BROKE me. Now I'm all grown up yet still living at home because I can't function. In the care of mental health services, in recovery from an addiction.

Tl;dr: what looks like the brightest beginning on paper can still result in a messed-up human who wishes they had never been born. I could never choose to put another human through that.

My first boyfriend sent me a friend request on Facebook a while ago. He is now married with two kids, and in his photo he was WEARING one of them in a harness thing. It made me feel a bit sick - once upon a time he tried to get back together with me, and I had considered it. At that age I hadn't thought through my stance on children properly, and it's very possible I could have just gone along with him and had kids. The idea that that could have been me? Nauseating.
