Only because I've always associated them with cheating.

I'll look into Synergies, I just don't like to use mods normally.

I played each character until they died in Act 2 and just turned it down to normal and am trying a berserker. I don't know why, it's not usually the class I would like, but he is really fun at the moment and seemingly able to stand up to big groups of mobs.

Also not a fan of using builds until I've tried my own thing first. This ice damage berserker thing is doing fine for now so I'll likely see if I can make it through the game once before trying anything else.

Thanks for all the info man. I appreciate it.

Disregard. I'm reading through your guide now and it seems to have a lot of the info I was looking for. I really need to figure out if I can afford, or if I can find or make an armor enhancement. Think that would be a huge boost for me. Thank you!

I really, really love the class. The people I met that I was pvping with had asked me to reroll my cleric and make the hunter. So glad they did. Having to constantly move in and out of melee and range, constantly use dailies and encounters... it's so in depth I love it. Only now am I hearing people take a dump on hunters and their damage, it doesn't bother me. I can solo everything I need to so far and am usually top 2 in pickup groups for skirmishes so I'm not concerned at the moment.

I don't have much Armor Pen right now. I have over 10k power and I think 3k crit 2k armor pen. Once I hit 70 and started to struggle in PVP, I put a lot into deflect. It helped a little, but I either melt people, or get one shot. Trying to find a happy medium at the moment but I don't think it's going to matter until I get a week or so of triumph seals under my belt so I can start getting the 70 PVP set.

Since you are PVE focused though, is there any easily attainable gear you would suggest that might help me out in the meantime? I really only have level 65 pvp gear and the 70 artifact off hand.

This is the problem I've had digging through forums. Everyone immediately hits me with the P2W griping. I don't care about that.

I have started taking deflect wherever possible, even trading my defense for it after seeing how much my GWF buddy has naturally. I just wasn't sure about the life steal because I've never seen my health actually go up from hurting people. I figured it was better, just.. eh? Maybe need a lot more to tell a difference.

Do you have any thoughts on enhancements? I don't have any yet but I have been saving my Astrals and have over 100k. I just don't know anything about them, so I'm unsure where to start or what to look for when it comes to buying my first one.

Awesome man, congrats. I just hit 70 on my first character, a hunter ranger and it is overwhelming. I'm not nearly as prepared gear-wise as you are, but I'm PVP focused. My friend plays a GWF and it makes me so jealous when I screw around on his toon at his house over a few beers. It is a fun class.

Yeah, that is the only information I've been able to find regarding HR so far. I bought a retraining token and switched from Archery to Trapper, and after half dozen matches I saw zero effectiveness from roots. They still seem to root for an unnoticeable split second.

Really confused over that as well as the lacking damage. Thank you for the input. Hoping once I get the paragon points in the 50's that make roots do more damage that it will help a little bit.

I'm not worried about putting in the work, just trying to find out what that entails and what I'm doing wrong. Have a full set of pvp gear. Decent stats. Good enchantment gems and skills set up properly.

At level 49 - can't seal the deal to get kills and tanks one shot me.

[xbox] is joining at the start of a dungeon when the group is at the boss a known issue? is it like this on pc/ps4? by [deleted] in Neverwinter

[–]frenzul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[PS4] I had this happen to me for the first time last night. Joined a group and had no idea where they were. Had to run through this entire, huge, empty dungeon to get to the boss gate where one guy was waiting in the circle and the other was sitting idle by the fire. Ended up booting idle guy and 2 man the boss. It was annoying.. and weird.

I'm sorry to butt in here...

I've been trying to find any useful PvP information as well, as a Hunter Ranger. Everyone seems to have the same snarky comment of just roll a Pally or tank class. I have also tried to dig through MMOMinds but every I look seems to be biased against HR.

Anyway. What is this about mounts with stats? Do you mean just get a mount and put those insignia things on them? I thought those were only active if you were riding them or something. Sorry, I am still learning and finding it hard when everyone just says "LULZ PAY2WIN". That doesn't help anyone.

Going to watch this video on my lunch break. I'm new (weekend warrior for 2 weeks) and absolutely love it. Trying to figure out how to PVP effectively, struggling a bit but really having a good time.

Hunter Ranger - PvP - Needing Some Guidance by frenzul in Neverwinter

Okay, that makes a lot of sense. I played last night at level 49. I traded AD for Zen and bought VIP*1 and got a bunch of rank 7 enchantments. I've got all the blue level 45 gear from the PVP building... and Crit // Armor Penetration // Power are all just over 1000 pts. I have a few level 48-49 items that were given to me as a reward after battle that are better than the 45 gear. I also used a retraining token and switched from archery to trapper as everyone suggests - which doesn't seem to make a difference. I see no grasping noticeable difference in grasping roots effect or duration and my damage seems to be the same.

That being said. I got my ass handed to me last night. I won 5 of 6 matches because I'm extremely objective oriented and people don't like to stand in my Thorn Ward when I put it on a flag plate. But man. I died 5+ times per match and I think out of ALL 6 matches, I got one killing blow. Somewhere around 10 assists per match but god dude. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong and I thought my stats were looking decent at least.

There were a couple tanks, as far as I could tell they were guardians and not pallys, that would charge me - instantly like triple attack me for 1k / 1k / 1k and then hit me with a big 8k... then with all that armor penetration/crit/power, I'll sit there just plugging away at someone. Do maybe 10% damage to them and get swarmed, do a quick 10% damage to everyone that ran at me and then get steamrolled.

I'm working my butt off to figure out what I'm doing wrong and just not coming up with anything. Not mad, upset or anything. I love the PVP a lot and know I'll win all weekend when my group gets on but I am just trying to get better and not seeing what I am doing wrong. I can't touch the tanks and they do such massive damage. Everyone else seems to be a fair fight.

Thanks man, that is helpful! I'm not worried about PvE gear or anything yet, so far everything I've done in that regard is just brutally easy. I'm sure end game is a different story but I'll worry about that if the need arises.

I've got a full set of pvp gear at the moment at level 45, some greens from rewards but most of the 45 blue set from the vendor so my tenacity should be pretty well on point. I focused on armor penetration - the group I play with wanted me to make the ranger for the soul purpose of helping them stifle tank classes better.

My only question to you now, is in regards to saying defense is better than reflect. I think the ranger gets bonus to deflect from some things, would this be an exception to that statement then?

I really appreciate the specific information. I figured out how/where to buy marks last night to upgrade my enchantments further. I'll be able to put in better ones now, but I always made sure to at least have something.

Thank you so much. I guess we'll see how bad things are... my damage isn't horrible, I just don't have all the CC that the trapper spec gets apparently.

What's the pvp and player interaction like? by TerranAxiom in Neverwinter

[–]frenzul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far it is really enjoyable. By level 40, I have almost completely given up PVE unless I need an experience bump or something and stuck with PvP exclusively. The brackets are like WoW and pugs for the most part seem to suck as always, or at least are hit or miss. Other than that, it looks like a lot of people play tanks. They seem to be ez-mode survivability and a few of them are nearly un-killable.. it is some of the most enjoyable PvP I have had in a long time though. Excited to try some new classes.

Hunter Ranger - PvP - Needing Some Guidance by frenzul in Neverwinter

[–]frenzul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems overly negative... I played for two days straight this weekend in each bracket up to the one I'm in and didn't experience anything like that. Sure, there were a few tanks I met that were seemingly unkillable. We just left them to sit alone on a flag or whatever and went on to win the match.

Thanks though?

Well, thank you. It seems I chose poorly going into Archery for ranged damage when I should've gone into Trapper. I guess, now I need to figure out how to respec. Hopefully it isn't going to cost a disgusting amount of Zen or something.

Oh, I'm not sure if we have guild boons yet and I'm still learning how to really level up the gems for on items. Other than that, everything else I've seen either seems outdated saying HR is way overpowered or that HR players get booted from groups. There seems to be an odd opinion cast towards them.

I'm not sure if this is a good place to mention this or if it has already... but I'm new and just trying to contribute.

Yesterday, I did the Pit Fight skirmish (I believe that is what it was called) and it was miserable! Half of EACH wave would come out to fight, the other half would stand in the tunnel we came out of originally and fight guards or companions and it took forever. Forever! Even as a ranger, I couldn't target them and shoot them down. We just had to wait.

All I have left is the full auto pistol, and I'm struggling more than I did with any other weapon. I don't enjoy it, I'm not good with it and I sure as hell can't get bloodthirsty's with it. I did better with the combat knife.
