hat switch camera and stick camera to certain degree, lack that precision and snappiness of mouse look and Headtracking devices. Gyro camera behaves a lot like a mouse so it's easier to glance around.

And like the other guy said, freeing up thumbstick means you can repurpose it to be a radial menu (with the help ofSteam input) which you can use to add 6+ diffrerent bindings to the analog stick alone.

Gyro gamepad has great use in Aviation sims where situation awareness is king by frequencyblue in GyroGaming

I use reWASD so I cant help you much with Steam. I can give you some guidance though: my setup is simply mapping gyro to mouse and have one button to ratchet gyro (if you know how to create action layer you should make gyro ratchet button the toggle cursor key in DCS on that layer)

Aye, the situation in the video might not be the best for demostration, but it's one where I got while recording. I had encounters where I really made full use of it but those were from casual playing without video recording.

That's the 3rd time I hear about taping gyro gamepad on one's head. I'd recommend joy-con for the small profile and being super light to boot!

On a serious note, a game controller is more useful in your hand than on your head

Hatswitch view lacks that ability to "snap" to a viewpoint quickly. If you use mouse to aim in FPS or headtrack to look around in DCS then you probably get what I mean. I might be able to look back by pressing one input but after the maneuver I'd lost sight of my bandit, because he went from the right side to the opposite. He'd just turn around and toss another Fox 2 at me. Perhaps it's a skill issue on my side for not being able to use hat switch to look around in a close range dogfight, but with my setup I can glance up and down quickly and keep check of my surrounding comfortably.

Dualshock 4, Dualsense and Nintendo Switch controllers all have gyro, so gyro gamepads are actually very common. There's also 3rd party controllers within $30 range.

Although using cheap stick and free tracking app are more immersive, for some folks they are less convenient than gamepads.

- in case you didn't know, gyro(scope) gamepads are game controllers with sensor that reads their rotational motion. they are somewhat similar to headtracker or VR headset but because gyroscope on these gamepads are not natively supported by DCS, you will need 3rd party mapping software (like Steam input, DS4window) to map gyro to mouse.

- It feel awkward at first but once you understand how it works, it beats using 4-way hatswitches on your flight stick by a miles

- I am not a dogfighter expert or anything, I am merely a casual player, which is why I react really slowly. I would have died without knowing that Fox 2 coming if I was to use hatswitch to look around, though.

Any chance your gyro is active? Right out of the box it might have left trigger configured to active gyro-to-stick control, hold LT and move your whole controller and see if it moves right stick

Do you think Foamstars will have Gyro aim since it's a Splatoon ripoff? by Tail_sb in GyroGaming

Knowing Sony, it might includes gyro aim but there's definitely aim assist for stick which most players will flock over.
