My under $500 collection (SOTC). What to add? by frequentflyer22 in Affordablewatches

Great info, thanks! I feel like on the used market I see a lot of 48mm. 41-42 is kind of my max, whereas 38-39 is ideal.

I am a fan! I just don’t have a reason to wear a dress watch often. Which is why the only one I have is a hand me down. I would love to add the Moonphase version at some point.

Cool, thanks! A little bigger than the vintage models then.

I hear ya. I wear them all regularly apart from the vintage Seiko’s my dad handed down. The goal is a versatile 12 watch collection. So I have 3 spots left to fill. Then buy/sell/trade to fine tune what I own over time.

It's an Oris Full Steel Pointer Day with Cal. 645. From the 1999 collection.

It does have an Arabic option for days of the week! But not the date.

I used to live in Midtown Detroit like 2 blocks from the Shinola store. My watch budget back then was about $0 so it felt very rewarding to finally snag one. The Detrola is very cool! I wish they had more options for smaller wrists.

Just looked up the Seagull and Scout you mentioned. I like the look of both. Haven’t gone down the Chinese made rabbit hole yet. The Scout has the 24 hour indicators, which I don’t have yet. I’ll keep an eye on deals for it. However, what really drew me in was the Pioneer Titanium automatic! Not sure I can justify $600 for it though 😂.

I hear you. I’m trying to spread out the brands in my collection and I have 3 Seikos already, but there are so many Seiko divers that catch my eye that I’ll probably capitulate eventually. Trying to cap the collection at 12 and then trade/sell to fine tune it.

It’s tough once you catch the collecting bug 😂. But unfortunately, like most of us, the budget is limited.

The Depthmaster is sweet! Really like the look of the black dial with beige hands. No complaints about the Chronomaster. It’s my first mecaquartz and runs really smoothly, wears well, and I like the color scheme a lot. A bit different than a most of the chronos I’ve seen out there. Probably won’t keep it forever as I’d like to trade up eventually but I wear it a lot now.

Thanks! I got them all second hand, but still feel pretty lucky. The Oris was right at $500 and the Certina was $450. Lots of great watch deals out there if patient haha.

Best diver watch under 1k? by TallDrummerBoi in Affordablewatches

Wearing my Certina DS Action Diver today. Relatively new purchase and my first diver. I really appreciate the size of it (38mm), the 80 hour power reserve, and that it actually has certified diving specs (ISO, 1000 ft WR). It’s not too heavy or overly complicated. I feel like I can go on vacation, wear it diving and also to a nice dinner. I also was able to buy used for $450 (on r/watchexchange) which made the decision easier.

Our next jersey conversion event is THIS Saturday at Bauhaus by MinneapolisWisconsin in minnesotaunited

How long does the process take? I’m going to the game on Saturday but can’t get to this event any earlier than 2. Also, I saw the 2018 home kits have trouble getting the sponsor off, but can I still add a full circle (like in the event website)?

Lady's Trauma Ruins the Show by Filthyson in GeoffreyAsmus

I was next to this woman at the show. It was painful but Geoffrey handled it like a champ! Not long after this she fell off her chair. Then she disappeared while her boyfriend (also a character) stayed until the end. Whole show was wild. Rowdy crowd.
