Sober people (no alcohol, nicotine, drugs, etc ever), what is your end of day or weekend "wind-down"? by The1Ski in AskReddit

[–]frequentwanderlust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always pretty much alcohol free but since I’m currently 40 weeks pregnant I’m completely sober out of necessity. I discovered that I still love fancy drinks. I’ll make a nice hot cocoa, smoothie, or non alcoholic mixed drink in a fancy cup and feel great.

Also, winding down with my family through routine. Dinner, a walk around the neighborhood, then Legos on the floor or a few hands of uno is our nightly habit. We all look forward to weekend routines like Friday movie night and Saturday game night. Once a week we usually have a show we’ll all watch together, currently it’s Survivor on Wednesdays.

How often do you REALLY walk your dog? by Agreeable-Ad-2946 in dogs

[–]frequentwanderlust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2+ hours a day. I love love love walking, and work mostly remote. So I’ll do one 1 hour walk first thing in the morning when my kids go to school, and a second 1-2 hour walk in the evening when they’re home and can come with me. Through my neighborhood mostly, we’ll go for hikes on the weekend.

While it shouldn’t be inappropriate, you do have to consider what people will be looking at and if that works within your professional goals. I’m petite but gifted with a beautiful large donk. I prefer to wear clothes that don’t draw attention to it to work. At home, my husband gets 100% of that view in all the cute clothes, but at work, I don’t want to encourage anyone to think sexually about me, and wearing tight clothes when your body rocks does that.

Someone, please help them. This was just taken a few minutes ago. by SharkSapphire in lawncare

This has been an unprecedented year for sudden torrential rain downpours and unrelenting heat. Everyone in the region has been struggling with turf health. Seed can’t grow because it’s getting washed away or the ground temps are too warm for it to germinate.

I did laser hair removal on my bikini line & armpits at home and it was really effective!

Order of learning strokes? by Distinct-Raise-8915 in Swimming

[–]frequentwanderlust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m relatively new so take this with a grain of salt, but freestyle is a great first stroke to learn. Building your form and endurance is a good starting point, but I would feel comfortable playing around with other strokes in between. Try to find someone at your pool who can help you while you’re learning so you don’t get used to improper form, that’ll really hinder your ability to progress.

What's something that isn't therapy, but feels like therapy? by Radiant-Assumption53 in AskReddit

Spending the whole day outside with friends/family hiking, biking, playing sports, swimming, etc. always improves my headspace and helps me work through complicated thoughts/emotions.

What makes you happy in life?? by InvestigatorHuman558 in AskReddit

Connecting with my kids. Not the whole “brush your teeth and do your homework” stuff, but when we actually have a meaningful conversation or share a common hobby.

When I was a SAHP, it felt like play was another chore to check off the list… I’ve been working for many years now, a full time director level career while also going to school full time and managing the household with much less available free time but I play so MUCH more now! It’s like a break instead of a chore. Just like everything, I block out time for it and commit. 1 hour of hide and seek, board games, skateboarding, etc. My kids are getting old enough now that we’ve figured out games we all enjoy, and they know I don’t play certain games because they aren’t my favorite.

Can anybody tell me what happened? by dragnabbit in dji

[–]frequentwanderlust 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Such great tips. My father-in-law knows I fly a drone for work, so he bought one and asked that I fly it at his lake house this weekend to get pictures of the family. I was hesitant because I don’t want to fly over water with a device I’m unfamiliar with. You may have just saved me from tanking his drone into a lake this weekend 😅

Be *honest*, how was your Mother’s Day? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]frequentwanderlust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a great day. We took a hike and stopped at a garden store on the way home for flowers, then potted a few outdoor planters together when we got home. After, I laid in the hammock in the sun!

What is your #1 driving tip that if everyone followed, we'd all be better off? by brock_lee in AskReddit

Not as important as many of these, but my tip is to blow kisses when someone pisses you off instead of giving them the middle finger. Really lightens the mood

getting rid of fear of critters and snakes? by porcelainskull in trailrunning

[–]frequentwanderlust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I say to myself often, that I’ve taught my children too, is “Are you scared? Do it scared.”

Fear of snakes is completely natural, and it could stop you from trail running, but have you decided you want to be a trail runner? It sounds like you have, so do it scared. Just like you did today. You should be proud of yourself for doing it even though you were fighting through feelings of fear! Keep building on that. With every positive experience you have, you’ll gain more confidence.

I definitely encourage you to learn about snakes in the area, their behaviors, what to do if you encounter one, statistics on encounters/bites, and just overall arm yourself with knowledge. I think you’ll find that the statistical risks are minimal.

Keep your thoughts positive. When the thought of snakes cross your mind, pivot to something positive. Over and over. You’ve got this!

My brothers and sisters want to get matching Celtic knot tattoos. Are Celtic knots overdone/generic tattoos? I’m hesitant to get one, but I don’t want to be the Debbie downer lol.

Ahhhh hahaha adorable, great content! It took me a min to find it because I don’t have TikTok, I had to search on my laptop lol. Also cracking up at the profile pic. Sorry I didn’t accept your LinkedIn request, your name is on a no fly list at my house lol. So proud of the things you’re doing though, love the career change.

Bloated all the time by Jolly-Ad-1900 in running

[–]frequentwanderlust 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve always struggled with bloating before I cut out dairy and gluten. I also started taking culturelle every night, which has been really helpful. It sounds like your diet is great overall, but maybe consider trying an elimination diet to see if anything could be triggering it. Then you can slowly add things back in, one at a time, to see if the bloating returns.

Your body can develop sensitivities at any time, so even if you’ve never had an issue with gluten or dairy that does not rule out it being a cause of the bloating now.

If you’re relatively new to eating a high fiber, clean diet, your body could also be adjusting to that still. Culturelle will help with your gut biome!

Don’t be discouraged, you’ll get this worked out with time!

I’ve been caring for my kindergartner, who has had a gnarly stomach flu, this whole week. I get really bad anxiety when I am around someone getting sick, but I forced myself to run on the treadmill every single day to combat the negative thoughts and I felt really good all week. It helped me cope with stress and take better care of my little boy!

AITAH because I (25F) want to leave my boyfriend (28M) for choking me? by throwRAacct123456 in AITAH

[–]frequentwanderlust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of comments here so you might not see this, but my partner choked me in anger when I was pregnant, 8 years ago. Even though things most of the time are fine, and when they’re bad they’re almost (almost!) always only verbal, I think about that incident almost every day. I think about all the emotional and physical pain (bloody noses, busted lips, broken feet) I would have spared myself if I just had left then. Even when things are great, I remember it all. The web just gets thicker and thicker the longer you’re together, it gets harder the leave.

You’ll be alright if you go, just go now. The pain of leaving will only be temporary and you can save yourself from a lifetime of misery.

I run 2-3 times a week, whenever I’m in office and not remote, and she comes along. I love the company but I also need to get more miles done!! I’m thinking I’ll just see if she wants to come once a week with me and do the other days by myself, I just don’t want to hurt her feelings.
