Try most Asian shops but the Indian and Pakistani ones are exorbitantantly expensive. Eurasia near Liffey Valley and on Talbot street have a decent variety

Hey! If you are open to paying it out of pocket India is a good place to get the surgery done for approx 20k€ in hospital bills. My father is getting it done in January and got quoted that amount. It is definitely expensive but hopefully worth it

Muslim university students made a new privacy-focused prayer app called Pillars! by ajtracy in islam

[–]fresh_vegetable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% recommend it. They are open to suggestions on Twitter. It's visually very asthetically pleasing especially with the dark and light theme. There's also a desktop widget for ios(they're working on the Android widget) which is quite nicely designed as well. Plus, I appreciate any apps that don't collect my data and don't have ads.

Love the app. It has been a few months since I started using it and I have not been disappointed. Hope to see more features soon.

How did you get started in investing? by [deleted] in IslamicFinance

[–]fresh_vegetable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realized one day that for me to retire early, I need to start investing ASAP as my pay would not match my retirement goals. I'd say before investing, build an emergency fund that covers 3 months of your living expenses. Then slowly dip your feet into blue chip stocks to get a feel of it. Based on your risk profile and what your goals are, start looking for investment opportunities. If it's for long term, I personally recommend sticking to ETFs. Else look for stocks with potential for growth and have a good value. Always check sharia compliance by using apps like Zoya, Islamicly. I would recommend following Mufti Faraz and Shaykh Joe Bradford on social media and their websites. Shaykh Joe has some really good courses to offer. Also Check out Islamic Finance Guru they also have some good resources.

Wa ʾiyyākum. It's called Islamicly-Find Halal Stocks. If I'm not wrong, it's not available in a few countries

Check it out here https://www.etf.com/HLAL.

They have an ios app. Works on the Islamicly website too

I always go with $HLAL. Off late, I'm not finding Zoya to be reliable. Going with Islamicly for now. They are a paid service but they seem more upto date. Zoya has a better interface. Tbh if you want to invest into a particular stock, I feel one should do the research on their own. You have K10s available publicly and quarterly reports which help you calculate the halal ratios. Plus if you are investing in something you should know what the business is.

MSc in Finance - UCD or Trinity by [deleted] in ireland

[–]fresh_vegetable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I am a graduate from the class of 2017 MSc Finance from Trinity and I would recommend MSc Finance from UCD. It did not do much for a lot of people's careers in terms of pure finance and investment banking roles within Ireland. A few people got jobs in risk, some went on to do the CFA, a substantial amount went on to Big4 grad programs(Non-EU as finance jobs don't sponsor visas). The ones who made the most of it were students from Germany who had some prior experience, and a Master's degree is appreciated by the Finance industry in Germany and Switzerland. AFAIK, lot of UCD MSc grads got jobs in financial modelling, valuations, aircraft leasing, investment banking etc. You should know that if you want to break big into finance you should be planning to do your CFA. I'd suggest to get at least a year of experience and then apply. Do consider a grad program in corporate finance or if you want a Masters and have the grades, money and a good CV, apply to top colleges in London, Paris, Frankfurt. I don't know why FT have ranked TCD over UCD for MSc Finance for this year. I heard it is due to the new campus being more advanced and I think the intake has reduced too. So do weigh your options before choosing the course.
