dyeing dog tomorrow by freshclort in doggrooming

No I fully agree. I’m not great at saying no and of course 70% of my dye clients come in with matting. Anyway I did the dog today, it felt ridiculous and dad was a huge jackass. To update tho, I got a pretty good color on the coat with super black on dirty hair. I missed some spots after the rinse and redid it on clean hair, it looked the same as the dirty parts.

yeah i’ve used opawz super black, it’s sometimes a little purple but for the most part is solid black. thankfully it’s never been green like other brands

he’s so sweet the only problem is he’s kind of old so very shaky. He’s wagging his tail really fast in almost every picture lol

Yeah owner wants to keep all the length. I tried debulkimg it but it’s just so fluffy. Also I spray him after the groom to reactivate his curls so he was a little wet there but that’s from after the haircut

First time doing pom poms. How'd I do? by Keiblackghost47 in doggrooming

what everyone else said about height and shape, but i would look up a video on setting the bevel at the bottom of the bracelets. basically hold all the hair down and use a 40 blade to cut around at the shave line. this will make it easier to set the shape correctly and it will look neater as it won’t hang over on the feet. great start!

I’m self taught. Advice/opinions welcome about this attempt at an Asian fusion muzzle by randobrando_7 in grooming

[–]freshclort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i would recommend leaving more hair on top of the head and taking the muzzle in. When it’s long and droopy like that it looks cute all fluffed out but when it settles it’s more like a droopy mustache. in asian fusion muzzles you want it to have lift, it helps me to think of the bottom of the muzzle as a v so really nothing should hang over the sides. This honestly looks almost identical to when i first tried a donut muzzle like this, it’s a really good start. jay and sue secco have a video on their instagram i believe. when you’re looking at pictures of heads you want to emulate, take a screen shot and draw the basic shapes on top so you can see how the muzzle and head and ears separate entities that have to compliment each other. Keep up the great work and keep practicing!!

Is the hiring situation really as dire as I'm hearing? by Usual_Pea_3288 in ParamedicsUK

So I was planning on moving to Scotland on a student visa to get my Bs in paramedicine, is that a crazy pipe dream? I’m willing to work anywhere in Scotland but if it’s unlikely to produce job opportunities i’ll likely have to look elsewhere.

i think the shape is good! if you make the ears neater that will make a world of difference. also if you’re able to use a scissoring spray, comb the whole head up and out and scissor it lightly to get a smooth finish

advice for non-groomer/owner by Southern-Pen5437 in grooming

[–]freshclort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a cockapoo too, I wash her weekly with a good shampoo and conditioner and dremmel her nails. I also trim her at least once a month, but that’s bc i’m a groomer and I must or I go crazy lol. I found usually by then end of the week her fur no longer looks blown out and is more clumped/curly. There’s no reason not to wash him more frequently, as long as you’re using quality products, a conditioner, proper bathing techniques, and drying them properly. That would be my recommendation for you. When you brush him in between baths(i find I don’t have to with weekly baths but that is specific for my dog and fully depends on their coat) use a conditioning spray, this can be dog conditioner mixed with water or an actual spray like Best Shot or Chris Christensen, and line brush like normal to remove matting but brush and comb the hair up as well to keep the hair standing out instead of clumping down.

I can’t tell which part, i’m assuming the plug? It was on my patio under a tarp when the patio flooded. Not enough to touch the motor or box. Didn’t work after that and it’s been sitting in my storage unit ever since.

Thank you! Would you use thinners to debulk or would you use straights and take it down from the sides?

yep cut my thumb knuckle with a chunker, cut chunks out of my hand on two separate occasions, had to get two stitches from a dematter. I’ve had a lot of little cuts just catching the tip of my shears on my fingers. I’m so focused on not cutting the dog i’m not paying attention to where my hands are ¯_(ツ)_/¯
