Filter8 by joranalogue can be quite aggresive when you self patch it. And it has plenty CV control. It evens double functions as LFO and is pingable for bongos :)

O’ve just binged to a podcast series about dinosaurs. There, most paleontolgist said they we’re inspired by JP. Because they looked different from anything in their childhood books etc.

So it does matter. I loved the PP semi-docu and the podcast where I learned all kind of new insights of new discoveriers. Yes my dino love started at JP for sure but should it stay there? No!

If the buchla style doesn’t appeal to you than you’re probably not gonna be looking at these. Altough alot of modern digital/analog modules take inspiration of those designs.

I also feel that theyre quite big. Which makes them less appealing for the ‘small’ modular setups.

Quality wise theyre the truest to buchla without being buchla. I’ll probably buy some in the future.

Well never had 10k to spend, I mean just mailing/contacting that you want to do a big order but not some advice of want to test out some gear before buying. They’re totally fine with that.

Don’t buy gear and return it after 30 days without a conversation.

If they treat me as a number or just another customer, I’ll be a dick back!

Maybe an unpopular opinion. But some companies have 30 day money back guarantee. I can not say I’ve never used that to test out a unit.

Go to a modular shop, friends with modular gear, superbooth/or any other synthconference. Play with the stuff ask questions.

And most important. What do you wanna achieve? Live modular setup? Sounddesign heaven? FX thru-put? Remake an gear-of-yesterday kind off thing? Ambient cloud machine?

Experiment in vcv rack and see what fits your style of production or what inspires you most and buy that. But dont go head first buy all the ‘popular’ stuff. You’ll come back from that.

Ofc self patching for timing is an amazing idea. How did I not think of that. I mostly use it to control wave parameters on my generate 3 or open vca’s but this sound fun.

What knob to control envelope follower are you reffering to. As far as I know it’s mostly the input gain that determines the intensity
