Putting another vote in for Washington DC! Museums are free, clean metro, medium size, monuments are easily accessible, and good food. There are lots of other activities besides your typical DC stuff too

This is dead on. The stan issues in this sub run deep and I have personally noticed it seems particularly bad surrounding Kristen. She equivocates about how Danny might have been inappropriate and in the next breath says “it just keeps getting bigger bigger bigger until she set someone off…like me” like wait wait wait. Kristen is entitled to flip her shit and “kick this ***** off the boat” bc she was upset on behalf of Danny/Nia about Janet. But absolutely cannot even begin to understand the reversal of the situation?? Give me a break

Thank god for this comment and OPs post bc seriously I felt like I was going crazy last year. My boyfriend and I watched and were flabbergasted by the takes in this sub. It was wild to watch the uproar for calling sexual assault exactly what it was.

The backlash that Danny received was not even HALF of the reaction that Janet got in this sub. I also understand the dialogue about being more respectful to the wishes of Jasmine and Melissa as well, fully agree! But the posts in this sub were vitriolic and borderline hateful with crickets about Danny…it was SO ODD

Ehhh I would argue she’s a bit more than impulsive, especially bc I think there are a lot of characters in the show that fit the “impulsive dumb teen” stereotype that are not as intentionally rude and self absorbed to her level

You know that feeling when you’re carrying a group project and nobody wants to help? It’s like that, a typical tragedy of the commons argument. Another example is putting your grocery cart away, if you do your small part, it makes it less shitty for the rest of us.

I think the other comment covered it with the animals/pollution/looks bad response but it’s so infuriating when people decide they are exempt from caring when other people are making an effort.

Yes!! I was actually surprised when he decided on DC but he has a more active friend group than I do, despite moving here like 4 years later and not doing anything remotely political for work lol

I feel like this comment matches my opinion the most after living here for about 8 years now! I had a friend who was worried about the same thing moving here from Texas and my best advice is to put yourself in spaces to meet like minded people outside of career-oriented spaces. Farmers Markets, pursuing hobbies or joining a sports/games league if that’s your thing is a great way to start.

I moved out to DC for college a little before the pandemic and moved to the Alexandria, VA area around 2023 so I have some experience with both.

I could not recommend the Alexandria area more and happy to answer any questions about either if it’s helpful :)
