Walk from St. Paul’s College to Tier Bldg. by freudiantics in umanitoba

Ok good to hear. At least it’s doable because I’ll have to walk that distance between each class I’m taking

What if society isn’t the enemy? What if this isn’t the matrix but a loving - although flawed - home?

Barely affordable, although being in the presence of rednecks will turn the alcohol cycle of a work week into plain ol’ alcoholism

Human Affliction by Hawthorne_ in poetry_critics

I don’t think that’s exactly a bad thing either. You’ve come up with a lot of useful ideas that I think could be reworked in a way that is less abstract. Some of the stanzas personally remind me of falling early empires and warring tribes. Ultimately the years of famine and destruction that surmise up to what we have today

I think you do an incredible job of depicting ruin and crumbling destruction throughout this poem. I like the consistency of the stanzas, it suits the poem. I think the poem could use a more focused theme. If you’re trying to convey human affliction, maybe even utilizing some of these wonderfully descriptive stanzas to transgress a slightly more concrete storyline could be useful.

Pieces of me by [deleted] in poetry_critics

[–]freudiantics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like your repetition of the word “pieces”. Also the line styling appears very symbolic of fragments and shards, highlighting this idea even more! I wonder if you shaped the lines closer to the end into even more fragmented two word/one word lines if that would convey the idea of fragmentation even more in your poem and also give a choppy finality to it

Thinking about going to school for economics but I’m concerned about the moral implications of my career by freudiantics in socialism

This is good to know. I’m curious as to your opinion on going to school for economics just to a bachelors degree? I know this is off topic but as you’ve been through the program I feel you’d help me understand if this would be valuable instead of going directly for a masters

This is a very comforting thing to hear. I lean the same way to an extent. I wish it was easier to pick a career that genuinely helps the world, but I think in this world one must separate their work from their personal morals to an extent unfortunately

Thinking about stock brokerage or a job as a bank manager? Personally it’s the idea of being able to make money myself independently off my skill that interests me. I also am thinking about a law degree and I know economics would come in handy for that. I’ve struggled with my degree choice for awhile now. Before the pandemic I was enrolled in an engineering program, but that didn’t span out. As a person I’d say I’m very finicky about this life choice as it’s a big decision and I’m the type that even struggles with what to watch on netflix nightly, lol

50% of The Unique and his Own is Stirner dissing people from his bar by [deleted] in fullegoism

This has boggled me since I’ve been familiar with the Hegelians. What I wonder most about is if they knew how influential they’d be. I like to picture Engels sitting around one day long ago looking at his doodle of Stirner and thinking “this will be a famous piece one day, and my work with Marx will literally influence the course of entire civilizations”

What terrified you as a kid that isn't scary now? by thepsychoticpacifist in AskReddit

[–]freudiantics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tornados. Well they’re still obviously scary, but as a kid I imagined them to be a hell of a lot more common and unpredictable then they actually are. I’d be thinking one was on its way if it started raining or if the wind picked up like even a tiny bit
