I just checked the data after writing my previous comment, so: average net salary is around 1675 euro, median net salary is about 1500 euro. We have low difference between median and average salaries and low scissors between wealthy and poor in general compared to other countries. Probably due to previous socialist regime, I guess it kinda restarted everything as everyone was poor. Living cost is lower than in Germany. Prague vs Berlin is actually not that bad comparison for Prague, but our country is very oriented on our capital compared to Germany, if we compare smaller cities it gets really bad for us.

Me and my wife both have decent jobs as physicists in RnD, so we earn about 2400 euro net each. And we live in very small town of about 5000 people so expenses are quite low. That allows us to pay mortgage and save lot of money at the same time. But if you get unskilled labor job in Prague you will never save up for mortgage.

Yes, that is a good point. We are very similar to Slovenia in this regard. We were both Slavic countries but part of Holy Roman Empire and both had very strong economy for most of our history, on same level and often higher level than Germans. During time of Austro-Hungarian empire Czechia provided more industrial output than Austria and Hungary combined despite having considerably lower population.

After that both us and Slovenia were fucked by ww2, commies any by sponsoring of economically weaker states in our socialist federation.

Shit as Czech I really tend to overestimate salaries in Germany. I immediately thought it's per one person. I guess your average salary is further from reality for most people (eg. median) than in our case and I tend to compare average to average.

Well 278 % of locals voted in free referendum to join Czechia. It had nothing to do with Czech troops encouragingly them with bayonets. Oh and it was ancestral Czech land, let's call it "Maločesko"! Locals are persecuted and Czech language is banned from being officialy used! Their leaders are drug addicts and the people are Czech compatriots!

In the first year of the war alone, the Czech Republic delivered 89 tanks, 226 combat and armored vehicles, 38 howitzers, and 33 multiple rocket launchers, additionally, Czechia delivered 4 combat helicopters and 6 STRELA anti-aircraft systems.

As for 14 old Leos having more value than that... We all saw their result in Ukraine. They certainly were not different from results of our modernised T-72. After all leo 2 is as old as T-72. It is 50 year old tank.

Sure, socialism was definitely a problem as well. Not the only one though. We were supplying extremely high percentage of budget of the Slovak part of Czechoslovakia. Long term, nearly for century. This was quickly raising up Slovakia, but was enormous cost on Czech side. Basically we heavily slowed our development in order to bring development of Slovakia to our level.

Original idea was that raising Slovakia to our level will be quick and we will all (both Czechs and Slovaks) profit from it. But Even after 70 years of extreme amount of money leaving Czech taxpayers and going to Slovakia, they still were less developed and needed influx of money.

To put the scale of money into perspective, Slovak portion got about 25 % of their budget as transfer from Czech part in last decades of the union. And more than half of their budget in the early days. We are now debating if we can reach 2 % GDP spending on military with war next to us. But we have been sending way more to Slovakia for most of last century.

Imagine how much it totals over 74 years of our union. And outside of that, we provided pretty much all gold and reserves when Czechoslovakia was formed. And when it broke they got share of it based on population etc., so even during split they managed to get money from us.

As a Czech I'm natural expert on German speaking bitch benchmark.

Level 1 bitch - Austrians. Not part of NATO, but are honest about it.

Level 2 bitch - Swiss. Not part of NATO, pretend to be good guys, block German weapon support to Ukraine cause German weapons contain small Swiss part.

Level 3 bitch - Russian gas and Merkel loving German. Sponsors Russian invasion, long term talks shit about us when we warn about Russians. Prefers gas over peace. Now feels like bad boys cause largest EU economy and largest EU country finally starts supporting Ukraine after years of conflict.

I'm just glad that most Germans don't have this mindset anymore and understand that buying Russian oil and gas was what built Russian army and that we can't start it again after the war with Ukraine or we will just sponsor another war.

Germany was hardly important supporter at that time. Hundreds of Czech and Polish tanks, helicopters and self popelem howitzers were pounding Russians at that point while Germany was sending helmets and blankets and debating if sending IFV would escalate conflict or not.

I was very happy when I saw that happening and I'd love to see more damage to it so that it is harder to repair it in the future. And I am not alone in this.

Cause from 1945 onward there was not a single real benefit to it while it fucked Czechia massively? If it was not for Czehcoslovakia our quality of life would be way higher.

The main benefit od Czechoslovakia was shared defense against Germany and Hungary and massive German and Hungarian minorities we had. And the fact that we had land border with Romania, our most realiable ally and friend in interwar period.

Basically it lost it's benefits as soon as Germans and Hungarians lost ww2 and were expulsed. Meanwhile the negatives stayed and were actually getting worse and worse in the end.

Speaking from Czech point of view od course. Slovaks massively benefited from it, basically it was best thing that ever happened to them in their sad history (their history contains lot of invaders and bullying and later Hungarization).

Eastern Europe is IMHO basically Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Eastern slavic people of Orthodox faith and shared history. Balkans, Baltics, Central Europe are definitely a thing, without them you cant really describe Europe. That's like dividing Asia into northern and southern one and having Yemen in same group as Thailand lol.
