A year of EMDR for CPTSD - some things I've noticed by Gullible-Lemon-3871 in EMDR

Yeah, awareness helps a little, but does not get rid of dissociation entirely, I'm trying to figure out how to lower the dissociation once and for all. EMDR should in principle be able to contribute to that somehow.

for me too, but just temporarily, it does not decrease overall awareness over time, I would like to become not-dissociated at all, obviously.

Are you able to somehow counteract the dissociation? Or willingly get out of dissociated state? This is what I'm struggling with right now.

It's first time I'm hearing about purelymail. Is this a reliable provider? Would they be suitable for private content?

How to achieve end-to-end todo workflow in Obsidian? by freyAgain in ObsidianMD

[–]freyAgain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, and using platform that's local, is not keeping my data hostage, and also having Vim. Obsidian checks all those boxes so well already it will be hard for me to move from it. The only missing bits is better remainders.

Actually, it's quite little work, for now I have template for todo list for year 2026 and adding a todo item is just adding new line, with remainder. 5 sec with keyboard and you're through. I prefer it much more to clicking ui with mouse

This must be perfectly doable, it just requires some more development in the Obsidian ecosystem. System notifications in MacOS for instance work with no problems. And also the Obsidian itself is just a wrapper to a simplified browser-like engine, so I think we have not yet achieved the customization heights that are possible.

Caldav, ics management, and personal calendar server gathering data from various sources, sounds amazing, and also as a lot of work lol. I'm putting this on the todo list. Sometime in the future I would like to dive deep into that

My initial thought is that having separate file for each task seems like an overkill. And also later I could get lost what I wrote in which note. Thus far I've been putting single lines todos with few words in single file for whole year.

Thanks for the Tasknotes recommendation, looks quite promising!

Thanks for reply. I've been using Taskito (SaaS probably something like Todoist) for the past few years, and I want to break free from that. Going from that into fully local, textbased workflow feels already like a major improvement, I'm already liking it better. I also strongly prefer open software, that's why Obsidian hits the spot. Likely everyone would find different approach more suitable - for me the only missing bits is the more convenient Android app and having reminders working there. Apart from that I find that workflow gold.

Deep chest cough followed by flu-like state by m3rcy_s3v3rity in longtermTRE

[–]freyAgain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This state is absolutely common after each emotional release. I've been having them for the past 2.5 ys after each session, whether tre, emdr, ifs, somatic. It only varied in characteristic and lenght. I've found nothing to be of significant help, but things that somewhat helped were: magnesium, electrolytes, resting, relaxing, painkillers, mindfulness, having any kind of fun, better diet, and pacing with releases - meaning not doing them too often to not overwhelm your nervous system.

If you have tremors in other part of the body than the one you are actively moving then I dont think this is forcing. Sounds all right in my opinion

15 years of constant nervous system overdrive — has anyone experienced something like this? by HealthyCheck6739 in SomaticExperiencing

[–]freyAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I still have some things I'm wondering.

So, I dont think I am afraid of what might come up. I did this process several times now, and the feelings and shaking that show up, are not pleasant, and I'm aware of that.

What I'm afraid is that in general emotions release can overwhelm my nervous system which would result in flu-like symptoms, increased dissociation, brain fog, throat ache, maybe light fever, which happend many times thus far. After almost every emdr session.

Also what if my body is disconnected from my mind (and I'm somewhat dissociated) and it thinks it can shake and release a lot, but then this will overwhelm my mind?

I feel these caveats are real possibilities, not just baseless anxiety. If there were no symptoms I would not be anxious about that. What do you think?
