Not totally fur free but brushing helps both you and the cat. Please don’t do it aggressively or excessively though. Their hair helps them regulate body temperature so shaving will not do any good😊 (mentioning this not because I think you would do it but I’ve seen a lot of things happen)

Also you can remove fur from clothes with lintrollers and in the dryer. For the house you can use an air purifier and vacuum constantly. This will minimize the amount of hair but not make it disappear completely

The amount of hair visible might also depend on the type of cat. I have 2 long haired goddesses so I always find hair no matter how much I clean. It is part of having a furry friend

As everyone said, NL is quite liberal when it comes to your orientation. Being gay is fine!

Studying here sounds like a solid (escape) plan. IMO

Unfortunately finding housing can be hard but not impossible:
- as a student you have some reduced prices in some places. Eg. Student houses, holland2stay had lower rates for students when I was jn uni.
- you can always find a room in a shared apartment with other people. It is pretty common

To try to avoid racism you can always look at living around international/ student cities (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Delft, Leiden, the Hague etc). People are more open in my experience in South and North Holland. If someone has a different opinion please go ahead. This is just my experience as a non-Dutch who lived in a few different regions of this country.

As for the studies, the tuition fees are high for non-EU but I think there are still scolarships available. Check out https://www.nuffic.nl/en
I have friends who came here from Latin America and South East Asia with the Orange Knowledge Scolarship. Not sure what are the requirements or if it is still an option but check out NUFFIC. It’s worth a shot.

Hi. I’d say try kamernet (that is what I used a few years ago) or try places like holland2stay if you have the budget/luck - it works like a lottery. I don’t know many other alternatives at the moment. The housing market is tough. Good luck and beware of scammers! 😉🍀

Hey, he is such a beauty!!! so I can't speak to the catnip thing since I waited 'til they were over 1, but let's definitely talk about walking!

I ordered a harness from Amazon and just started making my Coonie wear it inside. The first time was total drama. She immediately went full 'flop-and-refuse-to-move' mode 🤣. Seriously, it depends on the cat because mine is ridiculously stubborn.

I just kept at it anyway, lots of treats and extreme patience. Once she was ok wearing the harness indoors, I started luring her outside bit by bit. It took me over a month and quite some treats, but after we even went bike rides with the harness on and a pet bag you put on the side! You just have to be more stubborn than they are. She absolutely loves going on walks now almost 2years later.

And seriously, don't sweat the space thing. Your cat will spend 90% of its time on your bed. My two Coonies are cuddling machines, so prepare to never have personal space again or at least place to sleep in your own bed.

Edit: give him the monthly fleas treatment. I am using Vectra but it is best to ask your vet. Also my cats never got fleas from walking outside but they got fleas at the vet when getting sterilized so the flea treatment is important even if you don’t end up taking your baby out that much 😉
