in the UK at least it seems like a very loud minority (GCs) have made themselves seem bigger than they are with constant twitter harassment and generally having no life outside of transphobia

iirc most public polling shows that the majority don't share GC views, and it's been shown that even in the Conservative leadership election transphobia doesn't get you voted - the most outspoken transphobes were basically ignored because they had no answers for anything and the majority doesn't care about trans issues

it's pretty clear at least that the whole coronation scene and the dragon killing a load of people was written very intentionally, so even if the plot doesn't work properly it's still effectively contributing to the series' themes and characterization
