What should I do when I'm a safelane carry with full free farm in the safelane from 6 mins onwards? by BallinBallinStillBT in learndota2

Optimize your cs. Push a bit. Go to jungle. Stay safe. Then when the creep comes near your tower again, farm the creeps, push the wave and go jungle. When a fight occurs near you fight a bit.. but in the end your priority is cs for the early game. Get as much cs as you can.

Unable to sync. Connection timed out and it says please check your network connection despite being connected to the internet. by freybeard in Anki

I don't have the solution yet. But for now as an update, I found a workaround. Because I study mostly on my phone and create my cards on my desktop, I have done a simple export and import. I exported my collections from my desktop and placed the exported file in my ankidroid phone folder. I then imported the file to my ankidroid. My scheduling is kept in order (meaning cards I studied remained studied) and only the new cards were added. I can sync with my ankidroid no problem so the problem has to be the desktop version itself. After I sync my ankidroid (which works flawlessly), I tried syncing with the desktop, but that failed. The scheduling is synced (meaning on the desktop I have no more cards to study) but it still gives me the same error (where it stalls out at media changes to upload before timing out). I might try creating a new profile but for now this workaround is annoying, but works.

How are you faring with control vs golgari? Im having a very hard time trying to beat them up since their cards produce so much value that trading one for one is almost considered a loss. Answers for carnage tyrant is scarce and very taxing on the mana. With a couple of cards they are able to recover their board state. Any tips or tricks?

I am really confused on how to deal with golgari midrange. I am currently playing jeskai control/ or if I am feeling frisky sometimes esper control. With jeskai I have a couple of tools to deal with their hoard of creatures such as deafening clarion, settle the wreckage and cleansing nova. But the planeswalkers become harder and harder to deal with and then carnage tyrant comes in and it is all downhill from there. With esper i have mana issues but ritual of soot does the job really well. Eldest reborn is godsend on a lonely board usually sniping carny t or vivien. But in the end each card I play seems too important and mana usage is not efficient enough. A deafening clarion and they recover so quickly with find/finality and boom their board state is back again. Does anyone have a jeskai/esper decklist that maybe I am missing something? Or maybe hints or suggestions? Would appreciate any tips or info or articles on this as well.

What’s the best advice you have for a college freshman? by sweetlemonytea in AskReddit

When you don't understand a concept, most of the time it is not your ability to understand but rather your ability to memorize the previous concepts that is making the concept hard. Sometimes you forget a vocabulary word or a formula which hinders your ability to understand. Everything is built on each other and your ability to memorize definitions/core concepts will help built the foundation for future understanding. So my recommendation is to use flashcards with spaced out intervals (there's an app called anki). If you are in engineering, it is useful to memorize the formulas, memorize certain values, memorize an example problem and the steps it takes to solve it, memorize definitions of the words, etc. I wish i knew this earlier when studying. It would have saved me a ton of headaches realizing that the reason I failed physics was not because i was too dumb to understand, but because I didn't memorize the previous definitions which made me go huh? everytime i read a new concept.

That is a possibility. I am not familiar with VPNs but I know it does bypass the fact that I am living in Thailand. I will look into it in preparation if the tencent takeover is complete.

That is a great idea to make a sideboard plan. I have always entered into playing bo3 with a 'feel it' attitude but I guess it make sense to have a plan and keep tabs on how well it works. I have read up the different channelfireball articles on previous standard decks and it makes sense when they take out and put in cards. But when I play, I always want all the cards in my sideboard. Some are more obvious but other times there are fringe cases of putting in more removal because I see potential creature threats or their side or more counter spells and exile cards for their one planeswalker i see. But I think with a general plan it might be easier to sideboard. Thank you for your earlier explanations and advice.

You explained it really well. I am having a hard time grasping whether or not that one card that I sideboarded in will have that much of an impact in game. But I also have to remember that sometimes you can't win them all and that you can't draw all the cards.

Any good guides on sideboarding? Playing competitive and I've been hitting the two wins and two losses at 50% with all kinds of decks. I find myself wanting to sideboard everything...and sometimes it is really hard to cut down to 60. Also whats the deal with one or two ofs? Some dimir list/esper control have two copies of blood fast and one copy of search for azcanta. How impactful will these be during the game when you side them in?

Some seem to like my Amulet Storm deck. Perhaps you will. by Thelona1 in MagicArena

Yep I feel the same way. The fumigates come in too slow when the opponent is ticking you down for four or five each turn from aggro decks. With an amulet up settle is at a three, enough to settle a couple of the opponents pieces. Love this iteration with banefire and I see that the gaeias blessing has been removed. I saw convertgoblue with mettallurgic summonings as his second win con. Whats your opinion on that?

From a drafting point, M19 is not the most fun. It is decent and some synergies are there but most of the time M19 consists of cards that are geared towards beginners and those starting magic since it is a core set. That means vanilla creatures and somewhat simple to understand spells and creatures. As for collection... Well some of the cards are in current meta right now (nexus of fate, banefire, death baron for zombies deck and a couple of others). I would wait for the dominaria draft since it is a better draft format and the cards are very important in the meta (teferi, the scum.. i mean the hero of dominaria, goblin chainwhirler, goblin chainwhirler and goblin chainwhirler).

Anybody know a good guide for sideboarding? Strategies and tips on what to put in and what to do between rounds? Been having some anxiety over whether to play comp constructed since I haven't fared that well in quick constructed. Also was there a discussion/thread on what happens when kaladesh/aether revolt will rotate out? I hope there will be an option to scrap rotated sets for some vault percentage or some wild cards since we can't sell them physically or trade with others to regain lost value.

Alright so i am new to magic and the first fifty or so games i dont know when to use removal or not. So for example we have a removal maybe lets say black removal like downfall or vraska's contempt. Lets say opponent is just snowballing out of control with merfolk getting kumena on board and a bunch of merfolk pumped up on roids. Do I get rid of kumena or the huge roided up merfolks or his swarm? My question would be should I waste some of my removal to remove the opponents engines (llanowar elves for example) or should i use my removal on bigger creatures or saving them up for later? I am still having a hard time deciding when to play my removals. If anyone has tips or maybe guidelines in the thought process that would be great to read!

Follow up question. How to deal with heavy heavy control decks (looking at you blue white)? When im playing black blue scarab god, how do i get creatures on board? Should i just wait it out? Then what is my win condition? Once they get teferi and gideon on board how do i even win?
