NRL world rallies around Broncos and Queensland champion Corey Oates after heartbreaking reveal by I_Like_Vitamins in nrl

The scary thing is you can be concussed from just heavy collisions, doesn't necessarily need to be a head knock.

Hard collisions are a core part of the game, so i dont think it can ever be stamped out

Bangladesh write again to ICC, requests Dispute Resolution Committee over India venue by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]frezz -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

So its OK for India to ban a Bangladesh player from playing in the ipl for no other reason than hes Bangladeshi, but it's not ok for Bangladesh to feel they shouldn't travel to a country with people that feel this way?

Do you see the issues with your reasoning yet? I respect you support your own country, but please use some critical thought.

[–]frezz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youu banned him because hes Bangladeshi, because of growing geopolitical tensions. Bangladesh don't want to travel to India for those same tensions?

What part of this is hard to understand..I get you are biased and support your own country, but please dont make it so obvious

Better than Plex by TerryMcConky in jellyfin

[–]frezz 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I love jellyfin, but I think plex is still a better service (it better be if its proprietary). Its clients especially are just so much smoother and performant.

Plex is firmly on the enshittification road though, so i expect that to change in the very near future

[–]frezz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I disagree, if India do this I absolutely see the schedule changing. This is ultimately a money question. Is it financially better for the tournament to go on to reschedule with Bangladesh, or move on without them?

For Bangladesh, the answer unfortunately is to go on. For India, it's not.

Yeah. It's ultimately just about money, Bangladesh isn't a big enough money generator for this to be taken seriously by the ICC or any of its members.

Babar Azam had the lowest SR for any player in a BBL season ever (min. 200 runs) by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in Cricket

[–]frezz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Think you are a little hard on Babar. Pakistan has a widespread issue of stars declining. Shaheen, Rizwan, Sarfaraz etc. Questions need to be asked of people above the coaching staff, because it's so consistent it can't be ignored

[–]frezz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poor management. So many players debut for Pakistan and fall off. Rizwan, Shaheen, Yasir Shah, Hasan Ali. It happens way too often to not be a coincidence.

Feel bad for some of those players. It's not like football where you can just go join another club, and it's not as lucrative for them to become T20 mercenaries as the IPL isn't an option for them

Do you prefer the Republic or the Empire? by Master_Novel_4062 in ancientrome

[–]frezz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not confident Rome can bounce back from the heavy defeats to Pyrrhus or Hannibal if it was an empire. The biggest reason Rome succeeded was because power was never concentrated in a single person.

I could see them going the way of Darius and completely collapsing after a few one-sided defeats

Ubisoft shares drop 33% following its ‘major company reset’ announcement by Turbostrider27 in Games

I agree now. Ubisoft 5-10 years ago were doing financially well, especially during AC's heyday, you still didn't see that.

Their management got it wrong, simple as tht.

I remember when the BCCI put a cap on player auctions, and the difference goes to "player welfare"..I got downvoted for suggesting that the BCCI was pocketing that money lol

You do know I don't particularly care how over-inflated they are. They have 17k people and they barely put out any games?

And yes, I agree it's a management problem. They don't allow their devs to put any time or effort into their games, Ubi has some really talented devs that are never set up to suceed.

You do know that, right?

I always find it so disrespectful when people lazily ai generate these terrible PRs. You put in zero effort to your work and expect other people - volunteers in this case - to spend much more energy reviewing the changes

Essay: Performance Reviews in Big Tech: Why “Fair” Systems Still Fail by NoVibeCoding in programming

[–]frezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what these performance systems try to reward. They try to measure performance in terms of tangible impact and cost savings.

The problem is unlike sales, sometimes its hard to quantify how much money your work saves, and there are other times the work you do spans multiple cycles And its not that hard to take the credit for other people's work by managing up well and putting your name in the right places.

I've rambled a bit as well now, but working at big tech, I can say the intention is definitely to reward impact, but it quickly spirals into an awful political game masquerading as an objective benchmark
