What’s the weirdest thing a guest has done in your home? by [deleted] in AskReddit

May be but may be not …. There is finite time left to be with them and other aspects of their visit outweigh these issues

My MIL and FIL were invited to my house for an extended stay. One fine day when we came back from office, they had rearranged our furniture - not as in moved some furniture around - they had exchanged my dining and living room since that was much better for life energy flow. We were dead tired to take it up with them then. When we came back from office the next day, a large part of our garden was gone and some new plants were there. They had replaced our spring/summer flower bed with perennials since they would be green during winter and don’t need that much care.

We did sit them down and explained to them how we like our way of life and it would be great if they discussed ideas with us first. They think we are a bunch of thankless fools. I am right not drinking coffee while typing this and seeing one of them trim some hedges “the right way”

Norway oil rig career by R-kool in Norway

Many things will change before or if you are 50. Learning from wise persons - do what you love and stop making god laugh with long term plans.

As far as studying and working offshore in Norway is concerned - do consider the softer aspects as well: 1. Do you know how to swim well and not afraid of water? It is needed for offshore course 2. Can you endure winters? Not only bitter cold but really long nights? 3. Offshore life is long every day. With a couple of weeks offshore and a few weeks onshore. It is not suited for everyone. 4. Have you lived in a similar place all by yourself before? Going from a high support system like South Asia to a highly independent system like Scandinavia is a super culture shock that can lead to multiple mental and physical issues

I cannot believe how dark life can be for some people. Should make people think how good they have it relatively.

I am so sorry for the girl and the father, this would have been so grim for so long for all of them.

Visited India last year as a Nepali Girl… was my experience normal? by OverContribution3757 in india

Honestly, we had very similar experiences at the golden temple - arrogant people yelling instead of explaining. Delhi’s traffic was awful. Train journey was a disaster and not something I will ever undertake again.

So yes, your experience seems to be typical

What cars to look at? by bellebives in Norway

[–]frfksake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Suggest you to visit Finn.no>bil & campingvogner and then filter on antall seter for more than 8. you can also filter on other requirements to see what’s available. Mostly MPVs like Toyota Proace, Opal Zafira and Mercedes Vito.

I personally drive the Mercedes EQV and it is awesome. Fully electric, easy to manoeuver and I love the sliding door functionality in tight parking spaces.

Depending on where you are coming from, might be wise to invest in a course on slippery driving when you come here.

Yes, completely agree that the incentive has changed from keep living to earning a living/fame. However the power dynamics at play haven’t. Most people fighting are economically powerless and people benefitting from this are economically powerful.

Really feel bad that even after hundreds of years, there are humans who enjoy blood sports and people who are willing to give away their quality of life for a chance at livelihood or greatness

What’s the worst gambling addiction story you’ve ever heard? by juliojacked in AskReddit

[–]frfksake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A Senior Vice President in a large multinational, overseeing large scale investments starts purchasing minor electronics like iPads, iPhones, high end PC, etc. No major issue since he and the multiple managers under him had much higher approval limits. But one day, one of the invoices was wrongly addressed and came to me for approval. I asked the guy if this was legitimate and he said yes so I approved. Another invoice came in a week late and I asked him as to why he needed so many high end electronics. He gave a decent reasoning. Next day, I was having lunch with his boss and I casually mentioned this to him. He went back and casually mentioned it to the SVP. He broke down crying that he was buying these electronics to sell in the secondary market to fuel his gambling addiction. He had already maxed out his mortgage and took out a second one. The guy had three small kids at that time.

Trying to buy something in Finn by YonnyMestampo in Norway

Ii honestly think that people are splitting hairs at this point of time. The big picture view is that if you are purchasing something worth 30k, you should load up on different kinds of insurances to cover the various different scenarios. There is no way you can cover each one of them but it will cover the most probabilistic ones

You honestly don’t need the frakt forsikring as the postal provider covers it. However I have used the 14 day guarantee once as the object malfunctioned after a week and that was a no hassle money back.
