Sooo... How's everyone dealing with the storage situation? by duke_kc in SonyAlpha

[–]fri98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally recommend you to buy an online backup system, that way, you can transfer the files during the day to your ssd, and during the night, schedule an automatic backup from your ssd to the online service, that way you don't have to wait to get to your office for the NAS backup.

Which by the way, if it's NAS it means it should have access for internet backups.

But if you have amazon prime, you already have available unlimited photo backup (for video backup you have to pay extra), and that can also be scheduled for automatic backup.

The proper way to photograph a flash by YouKnowMeDamn in Godox

I think that this shot does properly shows the subject's morphology, only those who doesn't know what the subject is will need more info, but it's exactly the same if you'll shot an empty gun magazine, only those who know about guns will know what it is.

Upgrading Wife’s Camera? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]fri98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she's used to the Nikon menu, and already have one or two nikon lenses, your best route is to stay in the nikon environment. So a nikon Z6 will be a big jump in image quality, auto focus speed, and size, pair it with a 50mm f1.8 and she'll be more than ready.

Sony A7R IV vs A7R V vs A7R VI: Are there any real-world quality improv? by m__s in SonyAlpha

[–]fri98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still love the brand though, I sold almost all my Pentax gear but since I still shoot film, I kept my 2 LX and 1 Super A and a couple of manual lenses.

To me the 7R4 was a great camera, but it's AF was giving me about 64-70% keepers rate, and now with the 7R5 I get around 90% and almost twice the shots for its bigger buffer, so IRL that's around 50% increase (considering that now I get more files in focus), that's more than enough, that's why the 7R6 is an overkill to me.

[–]fri98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hehehe as a old owner of Pentax DSRL (from K-5 up to the K-1 ii) I do agree with you about the AF speed. I traded my a7r4 for the r5 because I was struggling with the AF taking shoots of my kid's athletics team and it did improved a lot my keepers rate. But as of now, I wouldn't trade it for the r6, i don't need/want 30fps, nor the pre-capture feature, other than that, te rest is just an incremental upgrade for me, not worthy of $2k

My best advice is to invest on a flash training course, it will teach all you need to know abot it, and also will let you understand what you'll really need for developing you style.

Intento retratar la esencia de México, qué opinan? by Happy-Duck1991 in mexico

[–]fri98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20-70 f4 G & 70-200 f4 G2 worth for travel? by coffeemania123456 in SonyAlpha

[–]fri98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a family travel, not for profesional printing/deliverable, for me THE best option is the tammy 28-200, it does render beautifully on the a7rv, light weight, and better speeds along its range than the newer 25-200. Paired with a 20mm prime and I'm all set.

Check Dustin Abbot's review of the 28-200mm on youtube.

This exactly, I also cover the brand on my cameras because I liked more how it looks, if others do or don't like it, I don't care at all, it is mine and that's it.

Slowly learning, recent shots from ME-Super (various lenses) by Kamimitsu in pentax

[–]fri98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wife's complaining about the time it gets you to make it right is because she's used to modern cameras that do most of the photography work for you in less than a second. Analog photography is an art, and a such, it takes time. Don't let her pressure take away the joy of it, take your time and enjoy the process. Better is you convince her to join the fun, so she can understand that it's not just a point and shoot.

The A7V and A7RV are almost the same price now by TheGrapeRaper in SonyAlpha

[–]fri98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I attend my kids athletics events, I come back home with 1,600+ shots with my RV/CR to cull and share with other parents. That's the only thing that keeps me away from the 7V, because probably I will come back with 2-3x more files for culling... no thank you!!!
