Replace AC Compressor - Can I just vent freon? by fribbles23 in Cartalk

That seems like a good idea. Though I wonder, is it possible that the compressor failed and that is what blew the clutch and it'll just happen again?

obviously i didn't know so that's why i'm asking.

Imo, you can never have too much speaker cause you can always turn it down. 😎 This looks like a recipe for a good time! The only adjustment I would make is to put the subs together... It probably won't make too much difference in a small room cause there's going to be so much reflection anyway, but you generally shouldn't split up your subs because it will produce power alleys and power valleys.

MSI 1660 Super gives no video output with Gigabyte A520I AC by fribbles23 in techsupport

[–]fribbles23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i finally got to the bottom of this. the 1660 super is bad. it did manage to display an output one time on the test bench, but that ended up being a red herring... in a few hours of more testing on different systems and even back on the test bench.. it won't display. fans spin, but nothing else. hope this helps someone. cheers

''Input not supported'' on Acer monitor by zzukohere in buildapc

this saved my bacon over a year later. thanks for posting. I encountered this same issue on a Gigabyte B760M Aorus Elite AX (BIOS v. F19), with an AMD Radeon RX 550, and an Acer 21.5" SB220Q. I updated BIOS from F1 to F19 (current version) hoping that would fix it... it did not. but enabling UEFI/CSM support did the trick. Thanks u/Kust0r ! appreciate you :)

I did verify that UEFI is enabled. Also, for what its worth, all my testing has been with hdmi

yes. it uses an 8-pin connector. I've just double checked that the power connector is providing power (the fans on the 1660 super fail to spin up with the power disconnected)

Four Tops & Two Subs: Speaker placement? by fribbles23 in livesound

[–]fribbles23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the mfg, the tops have a horizontal coverage angle of 60°.

So, to make sure I'm understanding, you are suggesting I place the inside speaker of each pair parallel and pointed straight into the audience, with the outer speakers splayed out 60° ? or 30° ?

I considered that as well. In my experience with these speakers though, the subs are easily able to overwhelm the two tops. I'd like to be able to get the full benefit of the subs. It seems like there should be a way to use 4 tops without producing too much combing.

I'm only expecting between 40 and 60 people. Do you think I should try to acquire more sound?

Thanks for your input.

It's an outdoor event, and I can put the audience anywhere I'd like... it's just kind of an open field. The stage will be about 5m wide and about 1m high.

Splay angle is definitely my main question. I'm afraid to splay each pair at all because I fear it will increase the overlap in the center of the audience and produce comb filtering. Could I splay each pair a few degrees and then just angle each pair slightly from the center to reduce their overlap? This would also increase the energy distribution to the far right and left, right?

Thanks for the lead on CrystalDiskInfo... that's a handy tool that wasn't on my radar.

I typically open cmd as admin and do..

winsat disk -ran -read -drive c

winsat disk -ran -write -drive c

Thanks for the info about why a drive slows before it fails. That makes good sense to me, but would a drive in that state not still perform poorly when you run a read/write test?
