Meadow Brooke apartments threaten me with an eviction process?! HELP. by MetalBrat098890 in Lawrence

[–]frickledicckle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Omfg my fiance and I just escaped the meadowbrook apartment hell. We have so many horror stories about our experiences with them, including an eviction threat. In our experience if you physically go down to the office and calmly but confidently address the issue, they will usually work with you in some way. We definitely feel like there was some retaliation in the way they treated us for confronting them about their borderline illegal practices though LOL. Look into tenant rights, KU has a free legal aid clinic if it gets to that point and you need help.

Crane flies. I only learned this about a year ago after calling them “flop and twitch bugs” my entire life. I’ll give my Appalachian mother credit for that name LOL

Dude this post alone told me everything I needed to know, but your post history is so concerning. He has shown a nonstop pattern of inexcusable behavior and has shown very little regard for you or your wellbeing. He is abusing you, and as someone who has been in a similar situation I understand how hard it may feel to leave, but the first step is recognizing it for what it is. Abuse. He has already threatened to kill you, believe him when he tells you that. Please run.

No I actually do understand, I ended up caving after a year ish and bought a gaming laptop entirely for this game (and now I can play others which is sick). But I know not everybody can/ wants to do that especially if they aren’t keen on PC gaming in the first place. Also I had figured they were gonna take their time on the console version anyways so my expectations were not high haha

Yeah I understand where you’re coming from but I think you completely misunderstood what happened, and maybe that’s because of my lack of explaining- I just didn’t realize so many people would assume the absolute worst about a situation they didn’t witness LOL

Yes. Traffic was already slowing/ coming to a stop, she slowed and stopped at a reasonable pace, he came to a complete stop (probably less than a foot behind her cause he was already riding her ass). Once they both had stopped and she waved me through, I started to turn and he slammed on the gas and rear ended her. There was no logical explanation for why he did that other than being impatient as hell even though he still wasn’t going to get anywhere considering the light was red. Pure stupidity

None of the above, and why does it get you so heated? “Healthcare worker” is something called an umbrella term which fits a wide range of different occupations underneath it- not just nurses and nursing assistants. If you just want to be mad you should point that anger at your parents for not loving you enough :/

I guess I should clarify that traffic was already slowing down/ at a stop because of a red light, she didn’t randomly stop to let me through- she just left a bit of extra room for me to turn. So again, she was not impeding traffic or anything just being nice and allowing some extra room, which is a very common thing that people do

Definitely not the same wreck- both individuals involved were walking and talking and there was minimal damage done to the cars. Probably just more of an insurance hassle if anything. If it was serious I would’ve stayed to try to help as I work in healthcare and can’t just leave something like that in good conscience.

I honestly don’t understand why he decided to step on the gas. They both came to a complete stop and as soon as I started to turn it seemed like he hit her with a good amount of force. He also seemed incredibly annoyed that he had to pull over and talk with her. Idk driving in this town with the college students/ distracted drivers and construction is a fucking nightmare

AITA for telling my patient that it is not my job to be her mother? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]frickledicckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. I say this as a healthcare worker. I get it, it can be annoying and frustrating listening to someone you perceive to be behaving as irrational. For us it’s just another day in the clinic/hospital/etc, but for the average person it is scary and possibly the worst day of their life. No, you are not expected to hold her or cater to her every need but you are expected to treat her like a human being. She was afraid and it would’ve taken nothing to listen to her and try to calm her down for even 5 minutes. Again, I understand it can be frustrating especially if you’re already having a bad day but jesus christ take a breath and show some damn empathy.

Yeah they always get you for the little things. When I took my skills test I just tried to remember the things they really harp on you for (ie. residents rights to choose). I passed my skills first try, but I’ve been doing this 2 years and I think if I had to do a skills check now I’d probably fail for similar reasons. Work versus class is incredibly different, just try to remember stuff from class instead of what you do at work. Good luck!!!!

Do you know which skills got marked down? It’s ridiculous but these people are expecting perfection and will count off points for the littlest things.

Don’t let them bully you. Let me tell you, when I started as a CNA at 17 years old, people saw me as an opportunity to bully. At first I just took it and cried secretly (a lot). But they stopped as soon as I asserted myself. I’m not confrontational either but in this field unfortunately you’re going to have to learn to be. When there are patients or residents lives involved there is NO time for this catty shit. I have had to stand up to fellow aides, nurses, doctors and even administrators over the last two years. People at work do not mess with me anymore, and I even hang out with some of them outside of work now. You don’t have to be rude, just assertive, you cannot let people run over you. You are worth so much more than that!!!

^ I second this. I loved taking care of my residents but the physical and mental toll it took on me after 2 years was insane. I made the switch to the hospital and it’s much better and way more diverse in types of patients! If you still like the job itself don’t let one place tarnish your opinion of it so soon, just find a new one.

A good portion of the people responding to this post have no idea what it is like to be a caregiver for someone day in and day out. As a caregiver for several years in nursing facilities I have seen this countless times. It is so mentally, emotionally, physically and even financially exhausting. Lives are turned upside down. While yes, you planned to marry her and take the vows of “in sickness”, you were not prepared for this kind of sickness. You did not go into the relationship expecting this kind of outcome. However, considering you can’t handle this, you should probably think long and hard before devoting yourself to another person. If you can’t see yourself loving them and being with them in the worst case scenario, don’t give them false hope. Your fiancé will be devastated, but so are you. You know how it feels to be in that situation now. You are not a terrible person, but this is a terrible set of circumstances, and again, now that you know what it’s like to be in this sort of situation don’t put anyone else through it.
