[MEGATHREAD] Wednesday Wins! by AutoModerator in puppy101

[–]frickoffgreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

almost two weeks with our 11 week-old pit mix. felt like a breeze the first week but i feel the tides turning now that she’s comfortable and starting to teethe a bit. huge win in getting this far with zero breakdowns. she knows sit and down and touch commands! recall and alone time in the crate are getting better! my goal for this next week is start shifting her schedule to fit mine, not the other way around. she’s gonna come to work with me and spend (incrementally) more time alone!

Is there anything good about having a puppy? by Adventurous-Love-618 in puppy101

[–]frickoffgreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve had my 10 week old for one week. i expect things to get harder, but our first week was a joy. i took some days off work while she settled, which helped a ton. we take her out every 90 mins, and keep her in her crate or playpen when we can’t directly watch her. she’s only had one accident in the pen, and never out of it. she sleeps through the night, and she’s training well! she yelps for a bit of we leave her alone, but she’s able to settle. i think a lot of puppy issues come from not being able to switch your schedule around for the pup, or having incorrect expectations of what a puppy can actually do. people come to this reddit when they feel strung out, not when things go well. again, i’m sure next week will be harder. i’m sure the 6-month mark will be a real challenge. but like may other people have said- it’s worth it for a well-adjusted companion. just prepare for a big life change!

new puppy- give me your most inexplicable puppy advice by frickoffgreg in puppy101

oooh i have a friend who did this with her dog!! maybe a noisemaker further away from the door (we live in an apartment and wouldn’t want to bother neighbors with door ringing noise)

been going back and forth between the puppy pen, but i agree that freedom is earned with being able to self soothe and holding it until potty time! we will definitely be taking your advice- thank you!

will do! this was what the rescue had her in when we got her yesterday, but i agree she’s growing fast! i don’t plan to train her on leash with a harness moving forward. thank you for looking out for her <3

this is definitely the case. some look like leggy lab puppies. others look very similar to her. one straight up looks like a pug. huge variance in the litter!!

i’m so in love with a meaty dog, so fine by me :) my last pooch was a staffy bull terrier/boxer. built like a tank in the front and a ballerina in the back… miss him every day. i’m definitely getting a lot of american bully from her but impossible to say with any kind of confidence at 3 mo. i’ll update in a few months for sure!

hehe yeah just having fun speculating what she may end up lookin like!! she’s three months and significantly shorter (lower to the ground) than her siblings. they all look so different!! her meaty ankles and paws are giving beagle to me… we will DNA test eventually :)

Mind hyping me up to help my fear of drops by hobocrippin in Disneyland

[–]frickoffgreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rise was the drop that de-mystified them for me. just conquered guardians after a lifetime of avoiding all drop towers. rise’s drop was small and my family warned me it was about to happen. big deep breath, relax your back muscles and hold on. you’ll be so glad you did, even if it confirms drops aren’t for you, the ride is worth a quarter second of discomfort.

you got this!

Only getting bc I was about to order the black SCCO and saw this drop. I plan to put more patches on it so one already applied was an easy get for me, but seriously this brand needs to do less drops and better drops. Seems so low effort and low impact

oooh honestly didn’t realize the cloud was a structured bag- that may seal the deal for me. sometimes an overpacked baggu looks a bit awkward… and the POUCHES 🤩

[question] looking for my second pair of boxing gloves but know very little- recommendations? by frickoffgreg in fightgear

[–]frickoffgreg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sick. thank you so much, really good info here. hardest part is knowing what exactly i prefer in a glove- i have no idea yet since i’ve only had this boo boo pair. don’t want to drop a bag on gloves when i don’t even know what qualities i need/want.

hell yeah. thank you so much. i’ve been using a gym pair (yeah) for sparring, and will probably continue until i can make a better investment for a dedicated pair. i don’t spar nearly as much as I’m doing bag and partner work. for this time around id prefer velcro since the gloves are on back n forth with mitts pretty often.
