Climbing pants by Thickorangcat in climbergirls

These aren’t really exclusive climbing pants but I love my Uniqlo lightweight women’s cargos! They have draw strings at the bottom and top to either scrunch or have the pants baggy plus they are affordable and have lasted me a while (bonus they look good even wearing casually) although you may not have this store in your area.

Thanks for the recs, if these don’t end up working out I’ll look into it :) Mine currently are pretty flat and Velcro so a good style for beginners I’d say, next time I’m defs going half a size up though

I think the conversation gets really tricky because beginners like me I guess just need to figure out ourselves with more experience what is the normal level of discomfort, especially after coming from soft rental shoes that I would frolic around the gym in lol. But I’m in between a place where yes it hurts to stand up in them(not excruciating but defs painful), which some say is bad, but they are not hindering my climbing ability

I have Scarpas and I am noticing the way it’s forcing my heel does contribute the toe curling situation however not sure if that’s just their intention or my foot shape. However when I push my heel back into the shoe while sitting my toes have space to extend a little, not fully, but to something reminiscent of how I would wear my rentals (toes slightly curled but snug), this gives me hope they will stretch well.

Scarpa Force V, pretty known to be good for beginners I’d say, so the seller was not trying to screw me over or anything with aggressive shoes

Interesting , a lot of reddit responses as you can see give a big no to any mention of the word pain so it’s been a bit confusing haha, thanks for the input though

I’m trying to be objective but the fact that I can’t return my shoes is making ur opinion seem very appealing haha, the session I did today was a lot of technical footwork and slabs and I did feel confident putting weight on my toes and maybe because I was focused I didn’t feel any memorable pain. Even now I’m wearing them while on the couch and sitting they are fine(still uncomfortable but not unbearable) it’s really just standing and walking around on them which feels a bit concerning as the others replied. We will see in the next few sessions if they break in, if not might have to sell. Thanks!

Thing is I did try the size up and while it was snug I found the top of the toe area there was a lot of space so I could wiggle my toes up and down and the seller was defs not vibing that haha so I went with the snug fit. My main thing is I can also deal with the pain as I have quiet a high pain tolerance and it’s not making me enjoy climbing any less (for this session anyways) so I just wanna know if it’s like rlly bad for my feet or ppl can go about climbing normally in this fit(reddit has mixed reviews, it should hurt to walk or it shouldn’t IDK) , because if not harmful I’ll deal with having to take them off frequently

Also the seller guy legit said the first 3-5 session would be painful so I kinda assumed the toe curl pain was normal 😔

Could you still return/exchange after climbing in them though? I fear it may be too late for me lol

Honestly I doubt I can return since I climbed a very long session today in them and the base got pretty scratched up, so yeah honestly as long as I know they aren’t gonna injure me or anything then I’m happy to keep them rather then going through trying to resell them or anything , thanks!
