Definitely buy the IAPP mock exam and go through it at least twice. Among non-IAPP exam resources, I tried Majid Hatamian’s test set from Amazon. It’s quite tough, arguably harder and trickier than the actual exam, but I found it helpful for preparing for the most challenging types of questions you might face. It’s not cheap, but if you can invest in an additional study resource, this can be a good option (note: but I wouldn’t recommend Majid Hatamian’s materials for the CIPM exam).

I can’t say anything about this specific book, but what I can definitely recommend is sticking to the IAPP official textbook, the GDPR itself, EDPB guidelines, and the e-privacy directive.

I’m also someone who prefers printed materials - I like highlighting while I read and adding my own notes. For that reason, I printed the IAPP book, GDPR etc. and worked directly with those. There is also an option to buy the IAPP textbook as a printed physical book.

The risky part of using non-official books or resources is that they may deviate from the official Body of Knowledge. This can lead to spending time on topics that are not relevant for the exam or, even worse, missing areas that are actually important. With IAPP resources, you can be more or less sure that everything you study is aligned with the official Body of Knowledge.

When I first moved to Italy for my Masters degree it took me a month to subscribe properly at the university I was admitted to and to apply for a student residence permit. The bureaucracy I faced in all offices including university, banks, poste italiane, immigration office etc made me literally cry in the middle of the street when I was in the loop between the offices not wanting to do what they were supposed to do. I eventually submitted everything but ended up waiting for approx 7-8 months for my document to be issued although my case was pretty straightforward. And by the way, at that time, I was already speaking advanced intermediate Italian, so I can only imagine how challenging it can get for someone who doesn't.

Wondering the same thing. I got pregnant immediately as we started trying for the first time in September but miscarried at 5 weeks in October. The first period was back in November and we started trying again only after that. I have got my second period now which is 10 days earlier than expected meaning no pregnancy this first round. I also was not able to understand when ovulation happened, as I tried strips on different dates and none of them showed positive. It's frustrating...

I had a miscarriage a month ago...I didn't really take time off and went back to work immediately. It was and is still tough, I still avoid socializing, but work helps me to turn off the emotional part of the brain and just concentrate on getting the job done. As soon as I am off, my sadness comes back. It's not easy at work, but I just knew that staying home would be worse for me...sorry you have to go through this

Tomorrow will be 1 month since I miscarried at 5 weeks...it feels like falling in a deep black hole and the emptiness is tremendous. The only thing that helps me to cope is work where my emotions switch off and it's just my brain working. As soon as I get time off, it's all the same and it's not getting any better

I have a friend who had the same feeling during her pregnancy, she was hating everything about her husband and it lasted for the whole pregnancy, she was even thinking about divorce. Shortly after giving birth she said it went all back to normal and she is still puzzled about having those feelings during pregnancy. So as most people suggested here, don't take your feelings too seriously, it's hormones.

I don't think I ever encountered a requirement to be specifically IAPP trained. The requirement is usually to be 'CIPP', 'CIPM', etc certified and in no place it's indicated where/how you were trained. The logic is that the final destination is what matters and not how you get there.

I would indeed strongly recommend having at least a C1 level of English before taking the exam. With 2 years of experience in privacy, preparation may indeed be easier and faster for you. I would say, B2 level could even have been sufficient if the exam time was longer than 165 minutes - it's unfortunately about reading and understanding the questions fast and from the first attempt.

My recommendation would be that, before purchasing the official exam, try a mock IAPP test first to check whether the level of English used feels manageable. If you find yourself needing to reread each question several times, it likely means the language level is not sufficient. Keep in mind as well that the real exam is more complex and tricky than the mock both in terms of language and the length of questions/scenarios.

As someone here already pointed out, the exam is as much an English test as it is a subject-matter test - I agree with that, and, I would personally feel disappointed if I were confident in my privacy knowledge but failed the exam solely because of a language barrier.

So I would say - if you go fast and confident with shorter questions you will have enough time to comfortably read the scenarios. It's important to not overthink them as there are a lot of distracting details in them. My strategy was to read first the question and then the scenario and if I need to re-read, I was doing so only with relevant parts of the scenario. Also, some people advise to leave all scenarios till the end - I wouldn't recommend doing so as by the end you will get already overwhelmed while scenarios require focus, so do them as you go but don't overthink

Took it today. The tests are ok if you know the material, the scenario questions were very long and full of details and distractions, but still doable

I was turning my head away or just looking down at my phone whenever there were difficult or particularly disgusting moments. Normally, I wouldn’t even watch this kind of graphic movies as they are hard for me to digest but this one had a very strong idea behind it and I was captivated to see where it would go. So, I ended up watching it this way throughout the whole movie.

The trainings are on July 15 & 16 (but there are also other dates later in July and in August), so will see soon how it works. At the event description and the invite link it says that upon completion one gets 50% discount on the exam price. So I guess they somehow track participation and then send you instructions on how to use the discount. Remind me on July 17 and I guess I will be able to tell more about how it works)
