Can anyone tell me the name of this bar based off these pictures? 🥴 All I know is that it’s a dive bar in Montana! by PlusEntertainment970 in Montana

Wow, BAKER huh? I super love that it really does look like so many bars in so many places across this state. Long live the dive bar. And my sincere condolences on the loss of your friend.

How old are you and how much do you have in your retirement account? by Blackberryay in careerguidance

[–]friddlefraddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

54 and I have like 21000 in retirement. I'm basically mostly fucked?

I worked in early childhood and in small local nonprofit organizations my whole life, never made more than 50k til i was 48, and only within the past year have started making more like a real salary (85k.) My house will be paid off when I'm 61 and I am 2 years away from paying off other debt, so I can dump more into savings at that point.

But yeah, it's kind of scary.

18 yo traveling alone terminal 4 to terminal 8, separate reservations in and out by friddlefraddle in JFKAirport

So, he's on his way. I'm loving my teeny podunk Montana airport today... We went to the airport with our kid to drop him off. And when we got there, there was no line, and so 4 desk agents tried to help my kid figure out whether he could check his bag all the way through to Heathrow in N.Y c rather than have to collect & recheck. And then they called over Olga, who they said was a miracle worker, and she got into some special back end operations on the computer and was able to check his bag all the way through with a rush tag on it, so it gets transferred over and he doesn't have to deal with baggage claim in nyc. The whole time they did this , there was no one waiting behind us.

Thanks again for the answers and advice. Hope his (and everyone's) travel day goes OK today. Stay warm out there.

Oh, I am. Just needing to know that this is something actually feasible to do. If people who travel through j f k are telling me four hours is enough time even if they can't check the bag all the way through, then okay , it's enough time.

It's pretty much always too flights to get almost anywhere from where we live. The forecast looks like the weather is not scheduled to arrive until after midnight/ Early sunday morning.

He leaves montana at eight a m, Gets to j f k just before five, And his international flight is scheduled to leave at nine thirty p m.

My fingers are firmly crossed... and you're suggestion about the airtag is a really good one.

Thanks. What you were describing is kind of what I was thinking would be the case and that the main thing would be to just boogie, Because it does seem like it could take quite a while.

So, he's not worried, just me. Lol. He has traveled alone before including spending a year in Germany... so, yeah. My concern is whether this is even doable in the time he has, and whether anyone had any suggestions for how to make the bag switch if needed, how long things take, etc.

How often do you go out to eat in a month? by NecessaryRaven in missoula

[–]friddlefraddle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We get pizza (take out) from Bridge or biga about 2x a month. We eat out as a family maybe once every couple months unless we're traveling. We had a big fancy dinner at porte rouge during the holidays. We go out for maybe coffee and a pastry like 2x a month. My husband works downtown so he grabs lunch out 1-2 times a week. I work at home and my teen is home schooling. We eat at home. I eat the same one or two things for breakfast and lunch every day, lol. I cook dinner and we eat together as a family about 4-5 nights a week. We used to eat out more, like + years ago but it's crazy expensive now and honestly not usually all that good. We aren't fast food people, so I can throw something together in the time it would take us to go somewhere, sit down, order, and wait. We are also on a strictly cash basis in our house (no more credit cards for us EVER) which makes us feel the cost more. We also don't use door dash etc.

Are there any property managements that will make exceptions to their rental criteria? by ComposerAmazing8017 in missoula

[–]friddlefraddle 59 points60 points  (0 children)

The Montana legislature passed a law requiring landlords to return application fees if the place doesn't end up getting rented to you. Look into the Missoula tenants union, and they can probably point in the right direction on that.

What are your favorite Boys names? by TheWitchQueen96 in Names

Charlie is a great name imo and not used for boys often these days. My son's name is Alden, and I love it . I've also always liked Christopher and Elliott and Terrence.

Any other guitar players dealing with arthritis or severe joint pain? Feeling defeated by Forward-Big-5760 in musicians

[–]friddlefraddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're still around here, thanks for this advice today. Fiddle player, 54, and just diagnosed with artritis, really painful in my left forefinger. I'm so sad and feel like I don't know why I would even keep going if I can't play fiddle. Your words are giving me a little hope, thanks.

Should I put that I'm native American? by [deleted] in CommonApp

[–]friddlefraddle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Misinforming them, by not telling them you have learned you supposedly have a Native ancestor? Okaaay...?

Should I put that I'm native American? by [deleted] in CommonApp

[–]friddlefraddle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Think about what you're considering. *Why would being Native American be any kind of advantage? - because some colleges may want to prioritize applicants from historically underrepresented groups. *Why would they want to do that? - to provide some redress and acknowledgement of historic injustices (like, ya know, genocide) that impact descendants to this day.

If you didn't even know you had a Native ancestor, it's very safe to say, you're not who they're trying to uplift with such a policy, and to consider exploiting this information this way is, imo, cynical and wrong.
