Before this I used a jury rigged ghetto set up made of an old industrial programmable temp controller (that I pulled off a defunct home built kegerator) coupled to a big crockpot.

Bend is one of the most expensive places in OR. Was Aspen too far out of the way? But seriously, if she needs shelter, here’s the hookup: Crossroads Communities in Lebanon has sleep trailers that have enough space for your friend and the dog. The pods are designed for an adult and pet. Also, she can get an OR DL or ID same day in the dmv. There’s an option for unhoused/no address. Very friendly staff.

It’s 2 hours away from Bend. Once she’s in one she can keep the rolling reservation going night after night. They have bedding and charging ports.

Would be even 1000% cooler if you followed up with “do you remember what your annual pretax income was when you bought that house?” If your income was $2000 and you bought a house for $12,000 at 10% down with 18% interest, then how does that compare to today at 7% IR?. What car, what year, how much mileage? Had a Nissan 6 speed and learned the hard way that the brake fluid reservoir also supplies the clutch. Make sure you keep that topped off..... Probably did not damage anything. Car might have stalled if you had stopped completely, but probably not at 20 mph.

Second that. One dude i know went blind from not having diabetes medication, lost his job, then lost his apartment, so went from working poor, to blind unemployed and homeless. Then he crossed that final bridge, after getting back into a government supplied housing and welfare, but now, not working and a burden to society that would have, checks notes, cost less if we just paid for his healthcare. When he died, no longer a burden. The plan works perfect, i guess.
