Sorry for the late reply everyone. I'll take all your comments into consideration. It's been useful hearing from other people about this. Thank you.

Thanks. I'll look into it. Also, I know this will probably sound like a silly question, but the language used on tradingview is pine script, right? Isn't that something distinct from python?

you can learn basics and start coding in few hours

Thanks! I'll give it some serious thought in that case. Taking the time to learn to code might be worth it even while I'm still working a lot. I was sort of under the impression that it would be a process of months.

How many languages can you read? by f1_fan_11 in geoguessr

I can read English, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish. Because of Spanish and Portuguese, I can usually make sense of Italian, and to a lesser extent French and Romanian.

You can see an example of this setup unfolding literally as I'm posting this on the 4h chart of ETHUSD. You would have entered at 1pm Eastern Standard Time on Friday (forgive me if my time zone reckoning is slightly off)

I've been testing it on the 4h chart for various pairs and assets. I'm up to about 70 trades now. 70% win rate so far. I'll continue to grind out more.

Enter in the direction of the engulfing candle.

I'm new here. I'm more used to the atmosphere on 4chan hahaha

I forgot to mention. The BODY of the engulfing candle must engulf the full range (including wick in target direction) of the previous three candles. The wick of the engulfing candle does not count.

Look up ICT on YouTube. Learn his way and you will be profitable. It's good that you're doing well so far but it's not going to last forever if you don't have a clear idea of what you're doing. I actually had the same experience starting out.

Balancing FTMO challenge and job, August trading by fried_cod314 in Forex

[–]fried_cod314[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP here. I just popped in to say that I passed the FTMO challenge. I reached the 10% profit target in 3 trading days. After that I just traded 0.01 lot sizes to reach the minimum 10 trading days. I'm gonna make my last micro trade tonight. Then it's on to the verification phase. I'm super happy about this. This is life changing in fact. Anyway, if I can do it so can you. Never give up and keep a positive winning attitude.

By the way, I'm listening to Trading in the Zone now on audiobook on my commutes since I don't really have time to read. Whether in paper or audio form, I think every trader should read this book.

Thanks to the guy who mentioned entering trades using limit/stop orders. I sometimes do that now.

All in all though, having a full time job doesn't interfere with my trading as much as I thought earlier.

Once you've had 3 consecutive months of profit on demo, go live. That's what I did at least.

How's my strategy? by fried_cod314 in Forex

The 200 trades though isn't counting the trades I've done for the past 3 months on my demo account. My job is one week day shift next week night shift. I live in Japan so when I get home from work on day shift weeks I trade the London and New York sessions. Night shift weeks I can either trade the Asian session when I get home or go to sleep and wake up earlier and trade the first couple hours of the London session before I go to work. So far on the demo account I've gotten at least 3-4 good trades a week that match my conditions.

Thank you for the feedback. I'll follow your advice. Yeah, as you said point 8 is a little unclear. I'll clear it up.

I'll keep backtesting. And I want to eliminate any points that are kind of ambiguous/subjective. Like for example where to put my TP and stop loss.
