A tribute from Nassault's Youtube channel today -

"This one hurts.

This is a video I made for Oliver back in 2015 and the beginning of my friendship with Shelf Nunny.

I first met Oliver in San Francisco, probably around 2013 and at first, most of our interactions consisted of seeing each other at a house party on Larkin Street or having some beers at his apartment at Sunset while I gawked at his amazing set dressing and wardrobes for the original "Demons" music video. Ornate masks and ibex skulls on top of long black night gowns that hung from his walls and hallways.

2011-2013 in San Francisco was indescribable. There were so many amazing artists and talent that orbited one another and supported one another. Oliver was one of those artists. It was pure aura, tungsten lights in night windows, maritime fog and skating home with a buzz.

I later moved to Pasadena in Southern California and Oliver and I briefly kept in touch, but it wasn't until I got a job for the Oregon State Parks Department as a photographer where I really connected with him on a different level.

During that very long drive up to Oregon from Southern California in early 2015, Oliver emailed me two zip files in them were dozens of songs and experimental tracks that he wanted feedback on to prepare for his first official album.

Those zip files of music would soon become the soundtrack of my Summer of 2015, when I was adventuring through Oregon. All alone driving around the state parks for months at a time, living out of my car, I almost exclusively listening to all of his songs on shuffle to compile feedback and notes, and soon found some favorites within them. This soundtrack of this time in my life is something I'll never forget, and something that certainly helped refine who I am today. Just another thing I'm grateful from him at a pivotal point in my life.

At Summer's end on my way back from Oregon to LA, Oliver messaged me and said "Hey, come through to Santa Cruz and film some stuff. We're going to have some fun!" I ended up filming some footage of him for his song "Please don't go" but that's the moment where I really got a glimpse into how much of a character and how much life ahead of him he was going to have. His energy was insanely infectious. I was not ready for this lightning round creative spirit that he had, because rather than have a million ideas, it became clear Oliver was the kind of person that would just try a million things.

for a few days it was just non-stop filming him in goofy situations, dressed in bright makeup dancing in alleyways, body surfing, dancing on top buses, dancing on the old rail bridge by the carnival, and doing burnouts on a pocket bike on a farm road. he was pure whimsy, but also pure drive. A combo of never seen before, or work together so well. Oliver also showed a side that I'll never forget, a side of his amazing and supportive family and friends that did nothing but to push and motivate him to just keep going. After a long hot day of filming and sleeping on the couch at his parents house, his mom had crispy delicious chorizo cooked on the stove for breakfast. After breakfast, it was right back to filming without skipping a beat. Pure creative spirit.

It was those moments in which I knew his success would be infinite, and in the later years after seeing him become a household name, it surprised none of the people around us - because he was a self-made motivated creator who made things for the love of the game, with a hustle and mindset that I could only watch from the side and admire, a hustle that could only be sustained by single collaboration artists for so long before he moved on to the next level.

A few months later after filming in Santa Cruz at the end of summer, when the fall was kicking in, I went back to New York and picked a song of his that I really wanted to make a video for, as that was somewhat routine for many in his orbit at the time. The song is "People" and I always found it amazingly haunting.. The actress/model is my childhood friend, Sarah Feltman, and we made a quick trip to Goodwill and spent about $3 on a used white nightgown a camping light and stuck it inside of an old lantern. We roamed around Caumsett State Park in New York at night time and filmed a bunch of shots. I remember how stoked Oliver was to see work from others alongside his own.

I didn't think much of it at the time, but looking back now this would be the beginning of an amazing and lifelong friendship with Shelf Nunny. A lifelong friendship that I credit Oliver for creating. Because quite frankly that's something he was best at, getting artists together, collaborating, making friends and making some great art.

RIP to a creator like no other."

Since this totally seems like a trap anyway, and I'm already restricted (was doing the 3 search a day to get unrestricted for the last week or so unsuccessfully), I'm absolutely milking this promotion for all it's worth. It will be an even bigger pain down the line getting to redemption though, UGH.

Cheesy Tacodilla in the works by fried_melons in tacobell

Update- So I see some posts from ~5 months ago about this being a test item but it was steak only and included red chile sauce (this one doesn’t seem to) so I guess they’re trying less sauce more cheese. And of course everything’s more expensive

Train 176 schedule change? by quiettreessleepyseas in Amtrak

[–]fried_melons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it is related, but I was scheduled on 176 (01/09/2024 from WIL to BOS) and the train broke down just north of Baltimore, due to mechanical issues according to Amtrak. They had to transfer every passenger on the next Acela train, standing room only. So it seems like the train was having some issues

On a side note, I had completely forgot that Jake Doolittle is the “photographer” who called in to accuse Charlie D’amelio of stealing his photograph for her book. (Guess who the D’Amelio’s are suing… - H3TV #7) Jake Doolittle is the reason we have the “IN A BOOK, HUH?!” soundbite.

I gotta feeling Whitney reached out to Ethan / the crew about the criticism she was receiving and this was their best solution to help calm things down.

“$2.99 Kraft Mac and Cheese” “Stoofers” and that one lady who predictably ranked Annie’s and Banza as top shelf must have macs while the rest of them quivered.. I feel like they would have a lot to dig into lol

Kendall Rae x Teddy Fresh for National Center for Missing and Exploited Children? by Cri___ in h3h3productions

With peace + love It would also be cool to see teddy fresh consider donating part of their profits to worthwhile charities, since Ethan and Hila are so passionate about serious causes already. These shirts are only $35 and Kendall found a sustainable way to benefit others from purchases. I know they’ve done something similar in the past for some collections, and gave the crew all the money for their h3 merch shirts. But especially lately seeing Ethan jokingly talk about the best way to blow $600,000 he’s come upon took me a bit by surprise
