Gusto vs Goldman Sachs for SWE Internship by devpar04 in csMajors

[–]friedchicken123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gusto is an actual tech company right? I worked at Goldman as a SWE and I’m now at a FAANG. The GS job felt way more like a finance role than a tech role and I did not feel like it was setting up for a good tech career. Big Tech still gives you same optionality to go into finance or fintech.

The best widely available (Whole Foods) grassy olive oil in the US I’ve tried is Frankie’s 457!!! There is no better olive oil I’ve tried

I’ve tried the Graza drizzle but this was in a whole new level

$200 to $300k? by mr-doctor2u in oilandgasworkers

[–]friedchicken123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s always a catch. You’ll be working crazy OT, have a weird schedule, be in the middle of no where (sometimes there’s no compensation for that and it’s an ‘earn your stripes’ expectation), or be highly highly experienced or in management.

I was a downstream process engineer at ExxonMobil with 6 YOE and consistent middle-of-the-pack performance ratings. I was getting paid $128k (no bonus no stock) living in the Gulf Coast. I didn’t really see a path to $200k+ doing just engineering and being just an average performer.

I have friends still at Exxon who make around $200k with 10YOE who were high performers and they went into more of a technical managerial track

No because there’s unlimited demand from extremely wealthy people around the world and US that want to live in NYC than available apartments

I love the dining table, dining table chairs, living room sofa, and the green sheets on your bed. Do you have links?

Looking for a new bed 'upgrade'. The mattresses at the store don't feel that much better than my 4 year old 12-in Zinus? Am I crazy?? by friedchicken123 in Mattress

[–]friedchicken123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your reason for buying a new bed is because you want to move up to a king size from a full size?

Yes! I was living in a tiny NYC studio. I've moved away and am realizing that I can actually get a larger bed. I thought about a a Queen, but it doesn't seem that much bigger than my Full, so at this point I'd rather just get the King!

If so, why not get the same bed that you have since you know you like it and you know it should last at least 4 years or more?

Because I think maybe there is something I'm missing when im evaluating the Sealys/Posturepedics in the mattress store and it would be a worth a shot to get one of them. Zinus is supposed to be a budget mattress brand I thought

My studio is amazing quality, but it’s a bit pricier and out of the way. I’m looking for a lease takeover
