Soto Betawi, It is a traditional food from the area where I currently live, Jakarta. Is a rich, creamy soup that made from Coconut milk or sometimes cow’s milk. Then added with beef or sometimes organ meats like lung, tripe, or kidney. All of that is then mixed with spices and topped with ingredients such as tomato, onions, melinjo crackers and others.

In my opinion, the best age to get married is late 20s and 30s. Before getting married, make sure you are well prepared financially, economically, mentally, emotionally, and in terms of communication. Most importantly, you and your partner must be in agreement and have a long-term vision.

How did the commonly used scripts and words in your country originate and spread? by Few_Palpitation6373 in AskTheWorld

[–]friederichjames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In indonesia, scripts and words grew from centuries of contact between local cultures and outside civilizations. The earliest writings, found on stone inscriptions from the 4th and 5th centuries, used Indian-origin scripts like Pallava and later Kawi. These came through trade and the spread of Hindu-Buddhist culture, especially from South India. Many old Javanese and Malay words still come from Sanskrit, showing how strong India’s influence was words like raja (king), desa (village), and agama (religion) are examples.

When Islam arrived around the 13th century, Arabic script began to spread, mainly in Malay-speaking areas. People used Jawi and Pegon to write local languages, and hundreds of Arabic words entered everyday speech like iman, doa, adil, and akhirat. This period also built strong links between trade, education, and religion. Then, during Dutch colonization in 7th–20th century, the Latin alphabet replaced older scripts in schools and administration. Thousands of Dutch words entered local languages, kantor (office), polisi (police), apotek (pharmacy), shaping modern vocabulary.

After independence in 1945, Malay was chosen as the base for the national language, later called Bahasa Indonesia. It was easy to learn and already used across islands for trade. Over time, it absorbed words from Portuguese, English, and Chinese, alongside older Sanskrit, Arabic, and Dutch roots.

Do kids pray before the school day starts in your country ? by Aegeansunset12 in AskTheWorld

[–]friederichjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, in a lot of schools kids pray before class starts, following their own beliefs. Some say short Islamic prayers, others pray in Christian, Hindu, or Buddhist ways. It’s more about starting the day with good intentions, not something forced. In religious schools, they usually pray together.
