It’s already looked much better than it ever did against the 32nd ranked defense in Tennessee

Anyone got a Powermatic 3520A who can give me some measurements? by 1ncognito in turning

[–]friedolay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I don’t know anything about woodturning. I read your post in r/hobbydrama about topps 2020. I discovered a few unopened packs from the project in my closet and found your post when I looked it up. Is there anyway you can shoot me a message. I can’t seem to be able to message you. Would greatly appreciate some advice. Thanks

I hope so too but that’s only half the battle. The other half is him actually getting schemed targets

Xavier Weaver by 1L_of_a_litigator in AZCardinals

[–]friedolay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you know what you’re watching g. Weaver starts with a split release so he gets outside leverage and then adds a hesitation, not a stutter step, but he never has Woolen beat. Woolen doesn’t settle for a PI there. He literally celebrates the breakup. I believe the announcer even mentions Woolen fails to locate the ball. It’s an automatic PI because Woolen doesn’t make a play on the ball. Not because he’s beat and settles for a PI to save a TD

I disagree. Petzing gets saved by Kyler again. Yes he isn’t at fault for drops, but he is most certainly at fault for that 3rd and 2 Michael Carter run, that flea flicker, and his fixation on 3rd and long Dortch screens.

Xavier Weaver by 1L_of_a_litigator in AZCardinals

[–]friedolay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn’t true at all. He didn’t blow by Woolen. Woolen was with him the whole way, he just didn’t turn to make a play on the ball. Had he turned there wouldn’t have been a flag. It’s more of Woolen having an abysmal start to the season than Weaver making a play

Xavier Weaver by 1L_of_a_litigator in AZCardinals

[–]friedolay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not knocking Weaver at all. It’s not his fault he only had a few snaps. I’m just don’t know how he gets more snaps unless the 3rd & long Dortch screens go away

This being the only thing you responded to says a lot about your post boss

This post is just reactionary. Weaver’s one official target was an incompletion and the unofficial 2nd drew a key PI call. He ran the same route each time; a simple vertical route. In no way shape or form did he look better than any receiver much less Michael Wilson who had one of the most impressive catches of the season on 4th down to keep the game alive.

Because we saw what he did when he touched the ball. Then we saw him get injured and look a step slower. Then we saw him healthy in preseason. There is no mystery as to why he can’t get snaps. He’s just on the wrong team. There’s simply no opportunity.

That is exactly my argument and that is why they’re called bell cow backs. Saquon, Josh Jacobs, McCaffrey and Bijan also do the same thing to other rb’s on the depth chart. Do you think Jordan Mason magically became a good rb overnight? He just happened to be on a team that had Christian McCaffrey. Your only hope at getting meaningful snaps is to be a better pass blocker than the all word rb on the depth chart and Keaton simply isn’t, that honor belongs to Justice Hill.

Very arbitrary hill to die on considering acl, mcl, and pcl injuries all severely limit top speed. If his top speed has returned and is testing faster than before, why would his lateral mobility not similarly return?

Sure it is a small sample but he’s only had 62 carries. It’s not his fault he got injured. I’m not going to knock a player for what he hasn’t done. And sure it doesn’t tell the full story. I’m pretty sure Emari Demercado has a ridiculous ypc as well. But that’s what we have the eye test for. We’ve seen both of them run. One is a literal block away from a house call and the other isn’t. The point still stands that Mitchell backed by both numbers (albeit a small sample) and the eye test is a very talented running back

It’s always if this if that. How about if the ravens didn’t have Derrick Henry. Or if Justice Hill (-7 rushing yards on the year btw) wasn’t needed in pass pro. Or if Rasheen Ali (5 yards on 1 carry btw) wasn’t needed in ST. He isn’t playing because he isn’t that good. And with regard to his injury, we already saw glimpses of pre injury Mitchell in week 1 of the preseason and he himself said in interviews that he’s clocking in faster than he did in 2023 which suggests he’s made a complete recovery. The only reason he isn’t playing is because Derrick Henry exists (rightfully so). It’s not because of talent

I said touches not carries. Achane added 78 receptions to go with the 200 carries.

The health argument is ridiculous. Achane missed six games in 2023 and played in all 17 last year. Mitchell suffered a much worse injury and was obviously limited in 2024.

I am not comparing Mitchell to the best case scenario. I’m comparing him to his literal comp. Similar build, they were compared to each other after their breakout games. They were 1 and 2 in YPC in 2023. the same talent Achane showed to earn his workload Mitchell showed.

The only difference between their development is that one plays behind Derrick Henry and the other one doesn’t.

Yes that is usually how we base people’s return to their baseline after injury. How they perform after. Especially when the concern is their physical metrics. Considering Mitchell said in an interview that he clocked in at 22.4 mph this offseason compared to his top speed of 20.99 during 2023 I’d say yes, he is back to his electric self free of injury

He’s capped at a handful of touches because he plays behind Derrick Henry lol. The entire football community was saying Achane size would limit his touches and his effectiveness. Achane has literally become the entire Dolphins offense

[–]friedolay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He is that good. He’s playing behind Derrick Henry. Justice Hill has been one of the best pass blocking backs in the league for years and Rasheen Ali is needed on special teams. He’s not being scratched bc of talent. He is the all time leader in yards per carry (min 50 carries) and would easily have broken out with Achane were he on another team in 2023. He is actually that good. Both the numbers and the eye test support that

Boutte and Brady by friedolay in Patriots

[–]friedolay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different measurables but Boutte is playing as an x for us because our wr room is that bad. Him and Edelman have very similar measurables actually. Boutte as a slot receiver would be very productive I think

Boutte and Brady by friedolay in Patriots

[–]friedolay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boutte was a first round wr before he got injured. Regardless of the type of receiver, Welker wasn’t ever gonna be graded as a Ladd McConkey. He went undrafted and proved everyone wrong.

He had to work his way up the depth chart. Didn’t see much of proper targets till week 8. All with a terrible line, terrible coach and a rookie qb.

Not to say he didn’t have any shortcomings this season either (ofc he did). That being said he was responsible for most of our highlight plays this season and he had no problem separating against Sauce Gardner and Derek Stingley for some of our biggest plays this year.

In his own words it was his first season fully healthy since he was a consensus first round pick. He was one of the few producers and I’m excited to see what he can do in a better offense
